Hi!! A quick update, which makes it easier for us and I guess it is is more comfortable for you as well - you don not have to read so much at a time:) Today we arrived in Franz Josef, a little town with just a few shops and some beutiful nature. We are surrounded by mountains with lots of beutiful snow - while it is about 25 degrees and the sun is shining - IT IS ALL GOOD!!! Since Christchurch we have been experiencing so many things.
The day after we took the "Kiwi experience bus" to a little fishingtown called "Kaikoura" - it was very sweet and the and very charming. We had two days in kaikoura so we decided to take a little late afternoon walk to see the beutiful nature around here. We went to ask about a track by the information and she gaves us one that woul take about 2 - 2 1/2 hours, which was fair enough. We took off without good shoes and sunscreen. It turned out that, eventhough we walked almost aqll the time without stops, it took 4 hours. The nature was absolutely amazing but we were absolutely rubbish. We got sunburned really bad and felt likw we've just walked for 2 days - but we enjoyed the walk and felt well restet afterwards;D..
We went to bed early since we had to get up at 5 o'clock. I was going swimming with dolphins and Emily was dolphinwatching. It was early and the water was freezing but it was all worth it. there was dolphins everywhere and it was amazing - it is really hard to explain but trust me, one of the most memorable things i have done on this trip. I think Emily felt that it was absolutely amazing looking at them as well, there were about 400 dolphins in one place.. After that experience we went directly to bed and slept for 2-3 hours. We went down town and took a look around and then went back to see a movie. Some Americans came down with their skydive videos and we talk for an hour or so - they were really impressed with our schoolsystem, healthsystem and so on - everyone is:)...
The next day the bus picked us up at around 9 and drove to "Nelson" - we had a few stops on the way and arrived at nelson around 4. We were supposed to leave nelson the next morning so we just went for a quick walk around the mainstreet and back to the hostel. just in time for beertasting, which was very interesting since neither of us drink beer - but we had a lot of fun and that's what counts... We went for a walk to see the centre of new zealand with a danish girl and two english people - we saw the sunrise and had lots of fun. At the top of the hill where the centre of new zealand is we met a new zealand guy and yet another english girl - they were very nice people and very fun.
We left nelson with the bus at 8.30 and drove to a little beutiful lake where our driver, flea, had made a lunch for 6$ each. A lot of people went for a swim and the rest of us just enjoyed the nature and landscape - it was georgeos!!! We are two buses going down the westcoast because it is the highseason, but we've got to know so many sweet people over the last week.
After Nelson we went to westport - a very small and boring city and we didn't really got to do anything other than a couple of drinks at the pub, which was very good as well... We are having a great time with a sweedish girl, an english girl and two danish boys - so it does not matter that we are in the middle of nowhere:D..
After westport we drove to a little pub called the poo pub where only the kiwibus is staying. The pub is located in absolutely nothing and every room was very humid but we had such an amazing time; there was a themeparty that night: the 80'ies, bright and tight... A big dinner and everyone dressing up, that can only end happily:).. And it did - an amazing night where we got to know so many knew faces;D..
We packed up this morning and drove to Franz Josef where we are now. A lot of backpackers were hangovered and it does not really help that every road in new zealand is in the mountains (up, down, left, right!!!)..
I had, after a lot of consideration, decided to do skydiving in Franz Josef. We got off the bus and 7 of us that got to do the skydive first... I was not really nervous, I was just really exited:).. I was the second to jump and i have never tried anything like it - I get all exited just telling you guys about it:) The view was just amazing and .... I cannot describe it, it was fantastic.. I got a DVD and pictures so I got prove, do not worry:)..
Emily is on a sunset kayaktour right know - it is suppose to be beutyful so I hope that she is having a great time:).. She will have to tell you about it next time.
Well, this became a long blogentry as well - sorry about that but we are doing so much at the moment it is hard for us to keep track as well.. By the way: I went jetboating in westport - it was very crazy and very wet - I tell you all about when i get back home:)....
Take care and we will see you in a month and a bit.. Thoughts from Sara and Emily xxx.
