This is the B & B where we stayed on the Isle of Wight near Godshill. The town where the lovely thatched roof cottages and an amazing miniature village and toy museum were sighst to enjoy. We had a great stay here and particularly enjoyed the great breakfasts.
We left our friends mid morning today and drove to Portsmouth where we caught the Isle of Wight ferry over to Fairhaven. We settled into our B & B at the Barn pound Farm and then we drove to Sandford and round the coast. The little towns and the coastal scenery just gorgeous. Got some food from Sainsbury"s and returned back to Godshill successfully, yeah.
Sunday after a lovely breakfast and a friendly chat with our hosts we walked up the road to the Sandford Wesleyan Church and enjoyed joining with the faithful congregation of about 11 .The singing of well-known hymns and the sermon using Psalm 68 (The Message translation )) - the lady preacher exhorting us to 'enjoy God'.
We joined the folk for a nice cuppa and chat and then headed for the thatched cottage village of Godshill. We had Devonshire tea here and enjoyed wandering the village especially the toy museum and the model village .
Today - Monday - We checked out the next part of our journey ,our finances etc and headed for breakfast around 8.30 am .After scrambled eggs ,bacon, mushrooms and toast we chatted awhile and about 10 we headed for the Post office sent some postcards and a package of papers & scarves (football) home. Then onto Fishbourne to check out our return tomorrow at 10am , all good. We then drove to East Cowes where we visited Osbourne House where Queen Victoria & Prince Albert came for holidays. An interesting history ,architecture ,interior design & art work and sculpture lesson as well as enjoying the manicured gardens.
Ryde a beach side town was our next stop where we had lunch . We had seen an Isle of Wight glass studio shop yesterday and decided it would be good to go to the studio which is situated along the coast from Ventnor. We seemed to drive forever but after going through a road in the woods we found this interesting place. We watched the amazing artisans at work and chose a special piece to send home . Back to the B & B another chat and inspection of the diesel roller, the man of the house is restoring - he is doing a really good job. After evening meal toast & cuppa soup, fruit & coffee we packed ready for leaving this lovely place on the morrow.
Next adventure DV is 21 days coach trip around Europe which we are looking forward to. Hope the weather remains stable.
