Thanks to everybody for all of the e-mails. It is really sweet to know that you have not forgotten me already!!!
Before I start, a message for Claire! I have three nail mags for you and will post them as soon as I have looked at them.
I had the English lesson today. Was panicing on the train as last night, I did the whole trip with Mieko so I knew exactly where I was going but this morning, there was problems on the line and one train had been cancelled. All I had was a list of platform numbers. Luckily there was some chinese students stranded and together we worked it out. Got to the place and I am so glad i did. was lots of fun, thinking of doing that tefl course again now!
The children had to call me Miss Vickery. They did not get it right, the first few times so then they had to chant it. Miss Vickery, Miss Vickery, Miss Vickery. It was hilarious. Then Mieko made some cake and I had to tell the children and their parents, what some of the words were ie.spoon and stirring. At one point, Mieko held a plastic thing up and I did not have a clue so I feigned confidence and said a spoon. Only for one of the parents who had spent some time in US to say isn't it a spatuala? Oops but the spatuala was all melted and distorted and virtually unrecognisable, especially for somebody who does not spend a lot of time in the kitchen!. Still goodness know, what i taught the children. While the cake was baking, the children all went to their parents and had to make pancakes. While they were making the pancakes. I had to go around and talk to the children and their parents, one to one in English so the children could practise their conversation. Some of them were very quiet at first but by the end some were singing the days of the week and the parents were quite smiley. The children were quite young. Mostly between 5 and 11 but there was one two year old sort oflistening in with a sibling and one tiny little one who was only 18 mths. One boy was obsessed with David Beckham and when the children had to try and ask me questions in English, he got his mum to ask me about him. I think he thought I lived next door to him or something! He looked quite disappointed when I said he was in Spain, usa now. Finally before cleaning up, we ate the pancakes with icecream and cream and some of the cake. it was good fun and all the children lined up to say goodbye and shake hands with Miss Vickery and the parents bowed.
It was fun, something a little different. Did my ego good!
Anyway gonna go now. Am on a mission tomorrow, got to get cash with my only card. a maestro one and it is proving impossible -quite frustrating- but tomorrow I am determined to do it! If anyone has any suggestions though, please e-mail or message me!
Bye bye
Sam
