Well, I am here in Tinsel Town and I have not been chucked out yet!
Have been so worried about La as a lot of other travellers in Aus etc dissed it big time even the americans I have met. However maybe I have bad taste but it is not bad at all. Some of it is ugly and the driving is atrocious. Had a very bumpy ride from the airport but at least, there is always something happening and you don't have to pay to be entertained. I was at the traffic lights in West Hollywood earlier and turned around to see who was waiting beside me and no, it was not George Clooney but Superman staring back at me. People go around in fancy dress, people thrusting cds at you trying to get you to listen to the latest cd they made etc. It is crazy but fun at the moment.
Went on a tour of the Kodak thestre today where the oscars have moved to. Again it is a lot narrower then it looks on tv althrough from the stage you can not see how far back the back rows go in the higher tiers cos they stretch so far back.
Also went on a tour of Beverly Hills and Bel Air. I am staying on Melrose Ave 'Designer Avenue' and the residential places around here are glam. I really really wanna live like that. It is ridicoulous. Saw Michael Douglas, Catherine Zeta Jones (they have real gold on the gate); the Cruises; Madonna; The Aniston's old martial home;Â Lindsay Lohan; Elton John; Sean Connery; The Osbournes (apparently a few days Sharon put it on sale a few week as ago without tellling Ozzie but he soon put a stop to that) and so many others that most of them have merged in to one and gone straight over my head. Then we saw Robbie Williams and my envy turned to guilt a bit. I remember reading his book and he was explaining his probs and how owuld you operate with buses, fans, helicopters outside your house and at the time, I thought he is right. He is as entitled to his privacy as much as anybody else. all i can say is that i am a very shallow person, if he had come to la for the first time. he probably would have done the same thing even though it is wrong and to be fair, the tour guide seemed pretty responsible about it all just cruising down the roads. none of us got off outside the houses or anything. also saw the famous old gates of Bel Air and the Walk of Fame. Found a blank star waiting for me. think it just waiting for me to save the requisite 15000 dollars you have to pay . . .plus earn a couple of oscars!
