We set off on a massive bus journey to Singapore. We got told we had to get a taxi, then ferry, then minibus, then a coach to Singapore. This is what happened...
The first part ran smoothly, we got a taxi, then the ferry. Then we got on a coach to Surat Thani. When we got off the coach about 5 guys where telling us different things. We they where loaded onto a pick up come taxi and taken to a tour operator. Then some random bloke turned up in a normal car and took us to a tour operators office. Here they told us we need to pay 5500 baht(90 quid) for imigration into Malaysia. They even drove us to the bank to get the cash. We never saw that money again. The random bloke then started driving us somewhere. He didn't speak english and we had no idea where we where going. I remember somebody saying that we might have to go to Hat Yai, so I was trying to keep my eye on the signs. I only had 2 hours sleep and I was stuggling to stay awake. I could see the guy was watching me to see if I would fall asleep. I didn't trust him, we had already been screaming at each other when I was trying to find out what was happening. I thought we was going to take us down some dirt road and meet his friend and beat us up or worse. I slept 2 hours and was dreaming with my eyes open. It was torture. In the end he did drop us off in Hat Yai and we boreded the most cramped minibus I have ever been on. We went into Malaysia where we didn't have to pay any money and they dropped us off in a random placed called Butterworth. We didn't know what was going on. After a few hours a coach picked us up. This was the most luxurius coach ever. The seats where so big that there was only enough room for 3 along, I slept the whole time on here. I even missed Kula Lumplar. We then got dropped off in another town in Malaysia that was close to Singapore. Apartenly the coach didn't have raod tax for Singapore so we had to make out own way there. We managed to find a bus and thought our troubles where over only to find out about the nightmare of imigration and customes to get into Singapore. We got off to bus to show our passports but when we went back it had gone. We showed our tickets to somebody and he just told us to wait even though everybody else was getting on the buses. Another bus we could get on arrived after 30mins, it drove us over a river then we had to go through customes. Half and hour of cueing and then we had to wait for yet another bus. We finally arrive in Singapore and I was so glad the nightmare was over!
