We only spent a day in Singapore. Looking back I wish we had stayed longer because I really like it. We actually planned to stay longer but we stayed in Pattaya longer than expected because of me being ill.
When we arrived we arrived we couldn't find anywhere to stay. All the hostels where booked up and so we settled on a "budget" hotel. I think it cost us something like 50 quid a night for the smallest room with no windows. I never realised before but having no windows it horrible. I woke up and my phone had broke so I had no idea what time it was because my phone had broke. It could have been 4am, 12pm such a strange feeling.
Once we got booked into the room we went to explore Singapore a little. We actually didn't get that far. We had not idea of how to get anywhere, we only had a small map of the area close to our hotel. We went round a shopping mall that was huge!!! It must have been at least 3 times bigger than the Trafford centre and we found out later it wasn't the biggest in Singapore. It was a Saturday and the place was absolutely heaving. There where soo many people.
There are a few things that struck me when we where walking about Singapore. The first was how clean it was, how new everything was (cars, building etc) and how beautiful all the people where. I have never been anywhere where everybody was so good looking and well groomed and dressed.
We decided to go on an open top tour. The only ones running where a night tour, these involved watching a show. The women sold it to us and said that it definately wasn't a kids show. An hour later me and Al are the only 20 odd year olds watching a kids show. We couldn't help but laugh. Coming back from the show we go to see alot of the major sights and the tour guide was amazing. She gave a good insight to what Singapore was like. Listening to her talk made me think that everybody in the country does what they can to improve it. It sounded like all the people agreed with what the goverment where doing and it seemed like a genuinelly good country to live in. I would definately like to go back to Singapore but it's so expensive I think I would have to work there.
Me and Al had a fairly quite night that night, most probably because the beer was an average about 5 pounds a pint. I did manage to get a couple of songs in on kareoke tho!
The next day we explored a bit more of Singapore then flow to Brisbane that night.
