sooo.. were currently sitting in an internet cafe at half 8 in the morning after a slightly stressful journey across town to try and make the 7:20 blue mountains tour bus. After going as fast as our lil legs could carry us and relying on good ole public transport we were 15 minutes late doh! although the bus was still there but to our horror they'd already managed to fill our seats.. ah well we can do it tomorrow so thats ok, so yeh we then drowned our sorrows in a big greasy breakfast yum!
Taking you back now to when we arrived we headed off to the airport shuttle bus which would take us to our hostel. Our first impressions of the driver and bus wern't too great really to say the least. So we hesitantly threw our bags in the back and climbed aboard whilst the driver aggressivly accosted random passers by asking if they needed help and saying "you get in? get in" or something along those lines which made us nervously giggle to ourselves. So he crammed in another 7 people into this tinny little van as it was more like a van than a bus, and we were ready to head on our way. About 45 minutes later we were just about still alive after a near miss with the odd car/pedestrian and some pretty dodgy driving.
We checked in to our luxurious penthouse suite with incredible ensuite facilities and a marvelous view with great room service *cough* *cough* then we woke up to reality and found a rather basic and simpistic style room with little more than 2 beds. so after admiring the view we headed out for a little wander. We soon stumbled across the Royal Botanic gardens where were slightly shocked by seeing a lone bat flying over during the day! After attempting to take many photo's we carried on into the park to find a whole god dam colony of them! As well as a range of birds including the white devils (cockatoos) which we'll explain later. After slightly scarred by the bats we were ushered to leave by the park ranger as they were closing the park for the night. We then headed off into the city with the aim of finding something to eat. About 2 hours later after viewing half of sydney we found ourselves in hungry jacks aka burger king. After feeling a bit sick and spraying large amounts of ketchup everywhere woopsy hehe we then headed back to the hostel for some well need rest.
The next day we decided to go off and do some more exploring and see the central sydney during the day. We walked past lots of nice expensive shops where sammy was cursing not having enough money to go and buy another pair of shoes hehe after a couple of laps around the shops we then decided to go off and explore darling harbour which i guess makes up part of the massive sydney harbour. After exploring the harbour we found ourselves in an oriental supermarket which was an experience to say the least. After grabbing some rather strange food we then headed off to the park for a rather strange picnic. By the time we got there once again our poor little feet were aching from all the walking so it was nice to sit down. Heres where we aptly named the cockatoo's the white devils as we weren't sitting for long! After the first few bites into our sandwiches to our complete surprise a rather over friendly cockatoo decided to land on sammys leg. At this point we realised cockatoo's were a little more confident than the common pigeon and after finding it at first hilarious we then preceded to get attacked by a whole flock of them so we quickly fled to finish our lunch else where. We then wandered around a bit more and went back to the hostel ready for the evenings entertainment which we shall describe later.....
