So the last few days have been filled with facts and fun!
It starts on friday when we awake lovely and early to board the boat to rottnest. not really knowing what to expect the boat gave us a guided tour of the expensive $4 million dollar houses before reaching Freemantle where more passengers boarded. we then set cruise speed across the Indian Ocean to Rottnest. This little haven was glorious! clear blue water and the sunshine to go with it! we hurried on down to the cycle hire to beat the crowds...we were then set up with 7 speed cycles and on our merry little way...of course being me (sammy) i have no sense of direction and end up taking us to a dead end lol we then travel on the right path...where i decided to have a little tiff about the flies that were attacking me..and everyone else...we stopped at a little bay called Porpoise bay so i could cool down and chill a little...then on our way again to another bay called Parker Point...and we havent seen anythin like it. so we decided to stop and get out the swimmers and have a little adventure in the water....what an adventure...after discussing with myself if it was a sea slug or not i here Nik shriek and low and behold a ocopuss had decided to plonk it self in front of him. thankfully he was brave enough to carry his camera and snapped it right away, it then went under the rock. As if it came out just for a picutre. we then head bak to the beach and back on our way again...we kept cycling around and snapping the gorgeous views. we found some local wildlife including the Quokka and a nice brown snake which nik decided he'd follow at my dispare...so i cycled off and left him to it. we then stopped at another bay where there wasnt anybody else and had some wondering in the water making sure there werent any beasties for us to be attacked by. we then realised we had 5km to cycle and 2 hrs to do it in...it turned into an endurance task lol but suprisely to my delight i managed it in the intense heat. we handed our bikes in and headed for some food then to the boat home....as we were heading up the river we couldnt belive our luck when we saw dolphines frolicking in the distance. it was an amazing day.
Saturday we decided was going to be more laid back, so after a good sleep we rised and headed into the town to the Perth Mint, the oldest Building still standing. we saw lots and lots of gold and saw gold bar being made...we tried to nick some but it was too darn heavy lol after a very short talk...it was over and we didnt really know what to do..then decided we'd head up coast to Hilliary's boat harbour to the auqarium...after having to ask several ppl how to get there we managed it. as with most auqariums....lots of fish and sharks...prob closest we'll get to them...had some fun watching seals too...then realising we were quite hungry headed to find some grub...my god we're fussy and took us a while to settle with our choice. once filled up with the MASSIVE portions they give we on our way back after another day of sightseeing.
Our last day....as a nice sending off pressie Perth decides it will rain today...so we're cooped up unitl lunch where we decided we'll head to the zoo over the road. not really thinking it'll be much we trot inside and were impressed...firstly i curse the birds who wake me up every morning at 6am. we scuttle around laughing and giggling at the strange names and strange creatures we come across. as you can see from our pictures we could get up close and personal with the animals. hee then we come across the tiger enclosure...where we spent a while coaxing them out from hiding and one finally did. we managed to get some amazing pics...from then on i was on my little cloud as everyone knows my complete obession! we then went on to the australia bush walk trail and nik decided he'd harrass the poor kangaroo's...he finally got his picture taken after i was a little hesitant for him to touch the thing. lunch time was funny...we decided to play some games with the seagulls and pretend to give them food, this amused us greatly. after much walking around we had seen everything and headed to the gift shop to get us some mascotts.
you'll be seeing these two pop up now and again in our pics. they are called Kennith the Kola and Kieth the Kagaroo. Well now we are packing and tidying as we have our early flight to Sydney tomorrow. from then we'll try to keep you updated with our travels!
taraa for now
