So I have left it quite a while again and there has beeen such a lot going on since my last blog, in fact I'm not even in Mar del Plata anymore! I guess I´ll start from last weekend. On th friday Richard, Simon, Ashley and I went over to a girls house for dinner and some drinks which was really fun, photos already up on the blog. We just hung out and drank a fair bit of beer as well, these guys spanish is far easier to get than that of panchito and his friends! The following day nothing much went on although I did manage to drag myself out of bed to watch the lions throw away the series! Sunday was a really fun day since the family of one of my english students, Iziar, had Richard, Ashley and I to lunch and made a huge paella, which was delicious. We then hung out there for a while before going over to a friend of Iziar's, Juli. Richard and I then proceeded to spend the entire afternoon learning how to play the worlds most complicated card game, truco. First of all who knew that spanish playing cards are entirely different from normal ones and there are only 40 of them! First of all there is a round called Embido where if you have cards of the same suit they receive a totl and the highest total receives points although you can bluff the opposition into not playing even if you have a low total or nothing. Then all the cards receive a relative value, which has nothing to do with any sort of logic or numerical order and then there is basically a bidding system of points and then 3 cards are played consequetively one after another and if nobody drops out then the winner is the one who win 2 out of the 3 hands. And thats just the dumbed down version! Well I'm currently in Mendoza and will try and keep catching up with the blog in my free moments here!
