Sawdee khrab everyone! (hello)
Sorry its been a while since i have updated this. It has been hard to find the time to sit down and write it. I have done so much since my last blog so i will try keep it short and not blab to much.
Okay... so the friday after my last blog i went to the floating Market and met the tour group for my northern Thai experience. The floating Market was awsom, we got these long boats that felt completly unsafe and at one point I thought I was going overboard! At the Market there was so many colours and smells of food that was on offer on these tiny boats along the man made cannal. The cannal was so small with so many boats, a bit like the m25 at rush hour. After the floating market I went to bmk, which is just a massive shopping center full of knock off goods, 7 floors, which was insane! I bought some abercrombie shorts and a few quicksilver t shirts for about a tenner! Bargain. Later on in the evening I Met my tour group who all seemed very nice and were from all over, JPN, US, AUS, CAN, SA. We went for a meal by river which was amazing as I had the nicest sea bass ever! Although it was very spicy. Sat we went for boat tour which was good as we got to see the old side of bangkok and then headed to a 'wat', Thai for temple and to see the giant reclining budda. Morning over we headed to the bus station for a 7 and a half hour bus journey to a hotel in Sukohthai. We arrived late so it was a quick dinner and sleep before a long day tomorrow.
Sun was a great day, we went cycling around wats in the historical park on these bikes that didn't have any brakes and were falling apart which was a great laugh. In the afternoon we went on a traditional tour on a Skylab, which was like a tuk tuk just the other way round. We saw the locals way of life with no tourists around. Cockrel fighting Is big in this province so we went to see the champ although we wernt alowed to see a fight. We saw the rice fields and how they catch local food with a local trying to explain it to us and all he could say was "no come back" ha. Later we went for brillaint traditional meal on the side of the road for about 2 quid for a meal and two large beers.
Mon we got another public bus and traveled to hotel in lampang the bus was small and packed with people all down the isles, luckily we had a seat so didn't have to stand for 5 hours. On arrival we had v tradition brillant pad thai on side street at a place that looked extremely dodgy and u wouldn't even think about going to in England. Then had Thai massage which was brillaint, all achy tho as they bend u and stretch u all over but next morning felt great. At dinner Had a few beers at local place and saw a stray dog fight right next to the table.
Tue we had a private bus that took us to the elephants. Where i rode an elephant through thick forest and water which was great fun also watching them bath etc. Continued the journey to chang rai stopping at a pineaple farm and had the most amazing pinapple and If u put some salt on it, it tastes real good. We actually stayed in a place called chang sean. When we got there we rebeled to eating at the hotel and went to a street vendor that was amazing. With a 7-11 next to it we had a few beers and went back to the hotel. 7-11 are everywhere they are like the tescos of Thailand.
Wed we went to the boarder of bermer and loas where we saw another wat and saw the local market. I bought some fake raybans which have already broken ha. We headed off on the worste roads ever to the opium musuem, which was sort of interesting but wasn't the greatest of museums. Took a boat over to loas for a couple of hours (still counts as i have been there) to see the market and a bear locked up which was odd. Headed back to hotel and had a free afternoon where me and Wayne (aus guy), hit a very local bar before all heading out for dinner at the same place as the previous night.
Thu we headed to chang mai about 5 hour journey by bus. We saw another wat on top of a hill with amazing views over mai. In the afternoon we were free to roam and we had a wander around which was good as chang mai is really nice with loads to do and see. We stopped and had a burger king for tea ha (I was craving normal food) before heading to Thai boxing which was v good where there was kids fights (looked about 12) and adults. The kids fights where the most entertaining all though felt slightly wrong watching and cheering them on. Went for beers after near the lady boy street and saw loads of old men walk of with them which was highly amusing. Ha.
Friday we went and saw the tigers and took pictures with them, actually touching them/ laying on them. All the trainers had was these little sticks which was slightly concerning as i dont think that would stop them. We then had a wander around chang mai again and decided to have a foot massage for 150 baht, about 3 pound for an hour which was amazing before getting an overnight train. The train which was okay and I got quite alot of sleep. Waking up to find my bag still there was a bonus too.
Sat the tour finished and I got a flight from bkk to krabi. Waited ages at the airport and finaly arrived in Ao Nang, it is very touristy and full of couples and family's mainly german, so not very backpakery. Had an early night as was shattered and I booked into a diving school for the next few days to get my open water certificate.
Sun I had to be up early for first dive in a pool which was easy and only took an hour. The rest of the day I just caught some rays on the beach. Got some local food and went bed for diving the next day.
Monday was another early morning for 3 dives. It was amazing we went to Koh Phi Phi and saw so much, eels and loin fish, nemos and much more. I was worried about equalizing my ears but it was easier than I though. Got back late after a sunset dive where I couldn't see much.
Tue was the last day of diving. It was v good and we saw a turtle and loads of other fish, corral, barracuda. After a dodgy test where they put the answers in front of me haha I got my open water certificate.
Wed I got a boat to phi phi as wasnt impressed with Ao Nang and met a aussie called cameron at the pier and we shared a room as was cheaper. We got a kayak out and went miles to a really nice bay which was amazing. Had a kip and some food then got on the beers and buckets at the half moon party! Was great fun got home late and wasn't to bad the next day which was surprising for me.
Thu I had to move places as cameron was leaving so went to a cheap hostel which is where I am now (cheap and nasty and two people had a cockroach crawl on them last night ha). I Just hit the beach for the day and caught up with this. So hot and the water is so warm. Phi phi is amazing and full of backpakers so easy to meet people.
Friday I went to the viewing point to see the island from a hight and get some piccy's. I've just been lazing on this island as u can see I haven't stopped doing things since I have been away so it's a welcome relaxing few days. Today it's been raining so decided to write this... finaly, and I'm off out tonight with a german guy called micheal as i will be moving on tommorrow to ria lie beach for one night before going to the full moon party in koh pang gnan.
