Happy New Year Everyone!!
So once again i have left it quite a long time since my last blog update but i haven't got as much to write about as the last one i don't think.
Right so my last blog left off with me still on Koh Phi Phi of which i really enjoyed. I left for Railey the day after a night out so wasnt the best of journeys but it was short enough it was okay. I left with Micheal as he had a similar idea as myself to go to railey for one night. On arrival we walked along the beach searching for places to stay and we found these huts for about 8 pound a night. They were extremely basic with a bed with a mosquito net as the dam things were everywhere! and a toilet. For dinner i had this great crab which was really nice however it came in the shell so i struggled to get much meat out of it! We didnt do much in the evening apart from chill at beach bar just chatting before heading back to the huts. When i got to my hut i went in to find a cockroach had made its way inside my mosquito netting somehow, nice! I got rid of the cockroach and went to bed with my torch close by my side as there was huge holes in the wall for anything to climb in. Was good fun anyway.
The next day i went exploring for a short while and went to go to the view point. To get there i had to dust of my climing skills as it took some effort in the 30 degrees heat. The actual viewpoint however was up an extremely steep passage that didn't look possible with flipflops so i gave up on that idea as had to get a boat to Ao Nang for my night ferry shortly. The boat journey was the start of the worste journey so far! I had booked an overnight ferry to Koh Samui to save on accomidation costs for a night which i thought was clever, little did i know that this ferry doesn't have tourists on and i was the only tourist. So for safety got a taxi to the port costing almost the price of a flight, all to catch the last night ferry over to Koh Samui. Now i don't know if the company made this up to make more money out of me, but it worked and they did. Nevermind tho i was on Koh Samui.
The 21st was the day of the full moon party. I had met an Ozzie and a french guy later in the day so planned to head over with them. We went over quite early to have a good look around before hitting the drinks. The party itself was RIDICULOUS! was absolutly huge with about 40,000 people walking around with buckets of drink covered in florecent paint...including myself. We danced the night away on the beach before heading home at about half 5 in the morning. I got back to the hotel around half 6 where i had breakfast and watched the sunset come up while chatting to other party goers. All before sleeping for pretty much the rest of the day.
The next day was quite boring as it rained the whole day and on Samui there isnt much to do in the rain, so i caught up with people and met some people in the hostel. Later in the evening i had arranged to meet up with a couple of aussies to go for some food and drinks which ending up being a good night in the main bars of Samui.
Christmas Eve was a realy nice day so i headed to the beach for the day to catch some rays before heading out for dinner with the people i met in the hostel. nothing exciting to report for the day just a pleasant day all in all.
Merry Christmas....Today i went for a tradition meal of burger and chips haha okay so not quite tradition but they had free wifi so i could chat to Soph and family back home. Later in the evening i headed to the christmas party on Koh Pangnan which was no were near as big but good fun all the same as the FMP. I got back very early in the morning as i missed the second to last boat so was in bed by about half 8. Before sleeping for most of the day again.
The next day i was heading to Phuket by bus. I had to be up around half 5 to get a bus for a boat before my bus across to Phuket. The bus was fine until it decided to break down for 4 hours in the middle of nowhere ha! Alot of time wasted. I finally arrived late and tired in Phuket where i headed to the local market for some food and a quick look around before headin to bed for some catch up sleep.
I only had one full day in Phuket so i decided to head to the famous Patong area. Patong was an experience it was very touristy with loads and loads of bars and shopping centres. I Bumped into two people i had met in Samui so continued to walk around with them. So that was my day in Phuket really, it was alot nicer than i thought but i can see why people arnt the biggest fans of the place. An early night proceeded as i had to be up at 4 to get a bus to airport for my flight to Kuala Lumpur.
Good bye Thailand! Thailand is an amazing place thats has everything to offer from jungles to prestine beaches, i would highly recommend people to go!
On arrival at KL you can immediately see the change it is much more developed and more civilised. On arrival after a short bus and train journey i headed for China town as i had been told its the place to go. I hadn't booked a place to stay so wandered around and found a decent place called the travel hub. I walked around china town in the day which was very interesting seeing all the fake goods on sale and the amazing food that was on offer. In the afternoon it rained so i went to a more expensive place for a meal where i had an amzing curry and starter that came to £6 an expensive meal here.
In the evening i headed out with a guy i met in the hostel to see what was going on. Malaysia where playing indonesia in the final of the Asia cup and there was thousands of people gathered in the main square. A few locals had a picture taken with us and gave us a flag. Was great fun. Later we headed to the Petronas towers to get a few night shots with our flag before heading home after an extremely long day.
My second day in KL i headed towards the park area where it has the worlds largest bird park only to realise i dont like birds enough to pay £10 to see them in a big net. So i headed to their national monument which was guys holding AK47s a little bit wierd but made sence when i went to the national museum to find out apart from trade there wasnt much history in Malaysia. Later in the afternoon I went up the Communication tower which is the tower to go up as u get a 360 view unlike the petronas which is only 2 points of view. It was good and i stayed up there for about an hour waiting for darkness to see KL at night. It was really nice and worth the wait.
New Years Eve i headed to the caves by public bus which was good but was ruined as there was rubbish everwhere, the most intresting thing was the monkeys everywhere. I headed for an indian afterwards where i had an all u can eat meal on this huge banana leaf which was absolutly amazing and all for only £2.20!! Later a we got a few people in the hostel and got a few drinks before heading out for the night. We just made it to the main night life before midnight where we brought in the new year. There were typical fireworks but they also spray fake snow at each other which was great fun. The Malaysains where facinated by us as they sprayed us loads and kept asking for pictures. Was a great night although not very drunk as like a usual NYE, because its hard to find affordable drinks in a muslim country.
Today i am just bumming around watching movies as i would normally do on new years day. My impressions of KL are that its amazing and the food is simply mouth watering, with curry, chinese and malaysian the main dishes on offer. Well worth a visit.
Tomorrow i leave to either Mallaca a malaysian port or to Singapore but not sure yet.
I really will try and update my blog sooner next time so there is less to read and wont take you an hour ha.
Merry christmas and a Happy New year everyone!!
Much love xxx
