Sally's response to Pod Blog deux!
I must say that the weather has been lovely in Provence. A warm south wind and sun, after all, Provence is the land of le soleil. Today at Cassis I paddled in the extremely icy mediterranean for the first time. Wished I had packed my shorts. Pod didn't want to get sand in his new suede loafers! He had a beer instead.
While Tom Tom might be a preferable partner for Pod, he has many pitfalls...
... He did not wash 2 shirts, 1 polo, 3 boxers and socks in the basin of our hotel room this morning to save him 8€ per item. He did not locate and pack a travel size container of washing liquid
... He does not research and type in each destination of interest ensuring it is not a town of the same name in the north of France or indeed, Italy.
... He does not hand him the auto toll card and correct change at every tollway
... He does not perform other wifely duties
...he does not translate menu's and tell him he is ordering sweetbread, not the prawns
...he does not have to suffer beer farts
...he does not taste the vegetable on his plate and tell him what it is
...he does not suggest we just drive up this road to see what's there and discover amazing sights we would otherwise have missed
...he does not suggest we do the 40k windy road tour of petit Luberon (mountains) and discover the most amazing towns we have been to yet
...he is not a great conversationalist at dinner, while being stunning to look at.
While loving his new friend Tom, Tom Pod today discovered a new bestie. The auto toll who, when he puts in the €1.20 I hand him, tells him "merci et bon route". Pod has never been wished Bon route before and finds it extremely amusing. Just as well he married me, not Tom, Tom, while Tom Tom makes Bon route easy he's just not quite the same.
The photos attached to this blog are just a few of the beirres Pod has had so far. To answer Emily's question of how many beers do I think Dad has had, as it seems that every time we stop he has one... very observant!! He has 2 beers to my one gin or red. If I have 3 a day including pre dinner, and he has 1 or 2 in the evening while I relax, then he is averaging about 6-8 per day. So after 8 days he has had around 64 to date. He is finding it very tricky to rotate beers in the ice bucket the hotel has given us each day when we return.
Note to self; The fridges in France are not cold enough for beirre.
He has asked for the bill by doing his little scribble hand movement a disappointing 5 times so far... thought it would be more but he knows kids wanted me to do a secret tally. He has asked for the bill in English and only once in French. Clearly Melbourne Grammar year 12 need to add "l'addition" to their curriculum.
As you can tell by blog photo he is now a bit pissed off when I take a photo of him having a beer in each location. Will have to be a bit more clever and do some hidden camera work.
12.14am apres boucoup des bois... Bon nuit tous mes amis..., he is snoring beside me. Sall xxx

Maggie Hi Sall, Pod and Tom Tom I love your blogs - they are hilarious but I am a bit worried about the menage a trois after 20 years of happily married life! Just returned from Henry's christening. Godmother Tia Costanza came all the way especially from Sao Paulo. Henry was divine and luckily saved a monster two year old tantrum until yesterday. Your photos are spectacular - keep them coming. Lots of love from M and S xxxxx
