Sallys Worldwide Adventure
Spent 3 days in San Fransico.
It started out as a bit of a disaster, I arrive at 9.30 at night and went to get the door to door shuttle to my hostel which was... Opps I fogot. I had no idea where I was staying, like no clue what so ever, so I had to spent like half and hour running around the airport looking for internet so I could find out. In the end some guy let me use the computer for free!
San Fran was good, but nothing like I thought it would be. I was expecting a really clean beautiful city, but its not like that at all. There are so many homeless people on the streets, like I mean loads and every 2 mins I was getting asked for change, and then at night, loads of people just hanging around on the streets. Parts of it were nice, really hilly, one day I decided to walk down to the whalf as it didnt look far but I didnt expect that about of steep hills!!
I went to Alcatraz which was pretty cool, I did an audio tour where you walk around the cell block in time with the audio and it tells you what everything is and what happened in those places, and its all narated by ex prisoners or guards. The island looks so close to the main land, it really looks like you could swim it easly. But no-one managed it as far as they know, cause its really cold and a strong current and sharks I think! They said that every New Years Eve they could hear the Partys from the main land!
I went to China Town, which was just so Tacky! Loads of crappy suviournier shops, selling loads of rubbish and people every where.
I went to the Golden Gate Bridge. I walked half way across it, didnt go all the way as it was so cold. Really funny, on the entrance to the bridge and along theres all these signs saying that help is avaliable and stuff to try and stop people from killing them selves by jumping off!!
I was staying in Downtown, right near Union Square, so I had quite a good location.
From here I decided the rest of my trip and decided to get the Greyhound bus around. Which was fine, I heard so many bad things about it, but it turned out to be fine and really safe.
