Sallys Worldwide Adventure
We drove up to LA from San Deigo and it took around 3 hours.
When we got to LA and I couldnt believe how spread out it was, we drove past downtown LA and then ages later we arrived in Hollywood.
I stayed in 2 hostels here, the 1st one was just off Hollywood blvd and the 2nd was right on the blvd, opposite the Kodak theatre so I had a great view from my window, I could watch all the street entertainers without having to pay them.
I also couldnt belive how run down the whole place is. Downtown LA is so run down and Broadway is pretty scanky. Even Hollywood is scanky, full of the same cheap tacky tourist shops you get anywhere, and loads of dirty buildings, the only nice things along the street are the famous things like the stars (which run all the way along the street) and the famous buildings.
Beverly Hills thou is really nice. I went on a walking tour of Beverly hills, which showed you all the 'Stars Home'. I saw loads like Freddy Mercury, Jen and brads old houses, the playboy mansion, Danni DiVito loads! Felt like a proper tourist peering at peoples houses, was pretty funny!
Me and Bryan went to the tar pits which has loads of fossilos of animals that died in it years ago, we then went to Rodeo drive where all the posh people shop. Didnt dare go in any off the shops thou! We also feared we were gonna get moed down by the thousands of runners that were running up and down the street.
I went to downtown LA and saw some filming which was pretty impressive. They had closed the whole street and gun fire and smoke and loads of smashed up cars and ruble to make it look like the street had blown up, was pretty cool.
We drove down to Venice Beach for the afternoon which was lovely, theres a massive board walk full of street entertainers doing everything and anything. Then theres a part called muscle beach where there is an out door gym and I think thats were Arnold Swat..... trained!
I went to the Hollywood History Museum. That was actually pretty good. They had loads of Maraliyn Monroe rememrablia (?), and old things from sets like Rockys gloves and Elvis's dressing gown. There was also a basement that was like the set of the Silence of the Lambs movie, not sure if it was the real thing or not thou.
From here I took a they Greyhound bus to Las Vegas.
