Today we are hiring a car and heading north, in about 4 hrs we should make Turoa ski field. There is snow as can be seen in the distance in the photo taken 4 days ago.
Is there enough to ski?
this is Steve's version of events making it all sound so easy. This is my version of the day-
We wake up this morning with no breakfast to eat and nothing booked for the day but got to check out at 11. We find we can't be bothered to get up.
Eventually Steve phones a car hire company to come and collect us while I rush out to buy some breakfast.
I return to the hotel with a hot breakfast and on arrival at the fourth floor the lift doors open and I see our luggage so think I will do a big BOOO to Steve. Steve is still in the bedroom and it is the chap from the car rental company with our luggage.
We arrive at the car rental company and they seem suprised and mildly shocked that we have not yet booked a car with them.Steve is quoting a reference number to them that I wrote on the peice of paper we have but it is for something entirely different.
Eventually we have a car and we are off- this is the worst part- it is a white Nissan Sonny! I am glad I am abroad where I have gained this insight that I am a car snob.
Everything runs smoothly from now on- just as Steve said.
We have hired our ski goggles and gloves and are ready for the pistes tomorrow. Oh and we found a nice little room with a view of the mountain.
Ski lessons tomorrow and I will try not to hurt anyone- especially not the instructor.
