We arrived in Paraty around mid afternoon and got a taxi to the hotel. The taxi driver didn't know where it was but as we'd already been here and found it I could direct him there. The hotel was alright, more like apartments. There was a swimming pool and a big double bed with a tv in the bedroom, nothing fancy, just nice and simple. I showed caz round the area, we had a drink at a beach bar and a dip in the pool which took us into the evening. Keen to show caz the cobbled streets of paraty we headed into town for a meal around the main square which was nice. We had a few more drinks in a bar afterwards before taking a slow walk back. We'd bought some drinks from the shop and stopped by on the way back to sit near the river and chat under the stars. We walked back past the gecko bar and saw dice and Lauren having a drink so joined them before finally making it home. A mice evening to settle into Paraty. The next day was beach day. Caz wanted to get some sort of tan whilst away (FYI mission failed) so we decided to sit on the beach all day. This wasn't overly bad as me and dyson spent the morning sorting out the two tours we'd see on our last trip. We also had to get cash out, obviously it was a nightmare and took us way longer than expected so by the time we got back the girls had left the beach. That evening we had a few pre drinks at the hotel and decided to go out for a nice meal. We went to a place I'd found before and the food was amazing. The whole evening was nice, we shared a bottle if wine, there was candle light, some light live jazz in the background. Really good. We again did the star light chat, which seemed to be the thing to do every night, with a couple of drinks by the river before heading home. Next day was the beaches day. We had to be at the dock at eleven so we left at about half ten, which was way too late the speed caz and Lauren walked. We got there at about five too and realised we were at the wrong dock. We had to be over the over side of town in five minutes, that was never happening so I ran on ahead to find the boat and ask them to wait. I found the boat and they weren't nearly full so we had plenty of time. The others must have knew as well at the speed they all doddled round the corner in the distance. We got a good spot on the boat and set sail. The beers started to flow fairly early. The beaches were really nice. We stopped at one fir about 40 minutes before heading to the next one. The next stop was more of a snorkeling stop were I'm in my element under water. I also take the opportunity to swim up from beneath and grab her until she finds it completely boring and unfunny. I don't so I carry on. We then get back on the boat and go to the next beach, again very nice, white sand blue waters. Once back on the boat we get lunch which is well needed as the beer has started to take effect. We then have one final beach to go to. Caz requests that I go in the little boat to shore with the stuff so she can swim to shore. I politely explain the under no circumstances am I missing the chance to jump off the big boat into the water, caz gets to shore in the little boat. Again very nice and again after 40 minutes or so we get back aboard. This time to go home. It's around mid afternoon an the day drinking has taken it out of us so we chill in the room until the evening. After a few hours lounging we get ready to go out. Still a little tired we head to the pizzeria attached to the first hostel we stayed in as it was just round the corner. A couple drinks near by and we headed home. The next day the plan was to go to trinidad, a nice beach resort an hour away but we got up late and decided it wasn't really worth it. We spent the day round the pool before going for a late lunch at a sea food bar along the beach. Me and caz hammered a massive plate of prawns as well as some other dishes. Adequately full we continued our lounging around the pool until it got cold. We then got ready and headed out to town for a few drinks. We got a few nibbles and hit a few bars before heading home, we commenced in our daily star light chat by the river and saw the others at the gecko bar again so joined them for a few and we all headed home together. The next day was the waterfall tour. A jeep came and picked us up about 10.30 and we headed off to our first waterfall. I small trek through the jungle and we met a huge waterfall. Following the river up stream we came to a few pools with waterfalls which we could get in. It was actually beautiful and was so nice and refreshing! Me and dyson climbed further up the mountain to find more pools and we convinced caz to come up too which she did. Down at the original pool I saw someone dive off a big rock into a pool. That was it, it was now not about me and caz, it was about seeing how many times I could dive into the pools through out the day. Caz and lauren both jumped off the rock which is how we spent the majority of the time there. We were soon moved onto the next waterfall which was just as good. Not as picturesque but there was a huge rope swing there. This took up most of mine and dysons time with a few dives for good measure. We kept pushing it by seeing how far up we could go to rope swing before the guide told us no, in the end I think he gave up although he did majorly trump us by diving off about 30m high rock into the pool. We may have been able to rope swing high but we couldn't dive that high. We then moved onto the third waterfall which was more of a white rapid river thing. We had lunch at a nice Italian restaurant there though so it was all good. We moved onto the final waterfall which was the huge piece of limestone which acted like a water slide. This was pretty cool but could only be bother to walk to the top once, plus caz wouldn't let me stand anyways. We then went to a stupid cachasa distillery and weren't interested in the slightest. It started to rain so we got in the truck expecting to be taken home... We were taken to a garden centre? Who the f*** actually knows why? Finally after a wonder round, not even a good garden centre we got taken home. We chilled for a bit and then got ready to go out in the evening. The rain had cleared and we'd all decided to go out together. A few predrinks on the patio then we headed into town stopping by at the gecko for a few more. Once we got into town there was a power cut, so strange, the whole town went dark. We managed to get a few drinks but no bars or restaurants were open sonwe ha to get a burger from a grimy cart. We headed back and got a few drinks from the beach bars as te power must have gone on by the time we got back. Next morning menand dyson had to head into town to get money as the banks didn't work in the power cut. This was fine as we left the girls to pack while we went to town. We got back with plenty of time to spare and the bus picked us up at 11.30 to go to Ilha grande.
