Our Intrepid tour is fantastic. Lauren, our tour leader, is lovely, as is everyone else. On Tuesday morning the eleven of us met Nick, our St Petersburg guide. We did a walking tour of the city, see all the main sights. Nick was a good foot taller than I am, so we did more running than walking to catch up. After arriving at the Winter Palace we went into the Hermitage. The Hermitage is one of the greatest galleries in the world. Iparticularly like the Egyptian mummy on the ground floor, the French 17th and 18th century paintings, and the state rooms of the Palace. After getting lost several times in the Hermitage, we hopped on trolley bus 22 to go back down Nevsky Prospekt to our hotel. The 4km trip took about an hour, so we were feeling far too lazy to go out again after that. Cards and vodka in our hotel's kitchen with our new trip buddies, and then bed! Scott and everyone else went out Wednesday to have a closer look at St Isaac's Cathedral...and I stayed in bed. We met after lunch at the souvenier market, and then hopped on the trolley bus AGAIN to go to our hotel. The trek to the train station took 40 minutes with our heavy bags (poor Jack was running late and very stressed), and then we boarded the train...
(i've run out of internet time again...)
