Still in malawi. Took the bus that left on time from Blantyre (where we spent a whole unecessary week) Managed to visit Open Arms Malawi though and helped with feeding all the kids lunch - what a gong show! Spent 2 nights in Monkey bay at a dodgey hostel on the lake, which although beautiful had no real management and we were constantly followed around by locals trying to sell us necklaces. Had a fire on the beach one night but the mood was quickly killed when the guy told us we'd each have to pay 50mk for the fire wood. But don't worry the drumming was free becuase it was his drum. Met up with a traveller from Mexico (Stephanie) and we all took the lovely Ilala Ferry up Lake Malawi to Nkhata Bay. Spent the 2 night trip in 2nd class which is a step up from economy class in the sense that it had cushions on the seats and a few tables. The crew couldnt believe us Mzungus would ride their willingly. Mind you first class was 7000MK more and you had to rent a matress to sleep on the deck. Had to fight for our food and things got slightly fishy smelling, but we arrived atthe early hour of 3:30 am and were greeted by locals such as the ever intoxicated happy coconut. Going to hang around in Nhkata bay for a ew weeks and help build a shelter. Me and steven have been spending the last few days eating cake while chalseys been getting her scuba diving certification. Took a day trip to Mzuzu in which the road was so muddy all the vehicles were getting stuck.
Hope everyone has a fantastic easter! We tried to explain the concept of the easter bunny to some locals and ended up feeling really stupid.
