Had a lazy morning at the hostel figuring out our plan for Bogota before heading into the city. Once we figured out the local buses we hopped on and headed to La Candelaria which is the city's old town. We wandered around but it wasn't quite what we were expecting, especially after seeing Cartagena's beautiful old town. We went to a plaza which was very random with locals trying to get you to stand next to their llama or pony so they could take a photo of you and lots of people trying to sell you things. Next we headed to the Currency museum where we learnt a few things but most of the narration was in Spanish! Afterwards, as it was in the same building, we headed to the Botero Museum. Fernando Botero is a famous Colombian artist who is best known for creating sculptures and paintings and enlarging certain areas of the piece and making them cartoon like. The Mona Lisa painting from the photo is possibly the most famous. There are lots of his massive sculptures all over Medellin, where he is originally from. After an afternoon of museums we treated ourselves to a nice Bogota brewed beer - a honey ale, and then headed back to the hotel with lots of snacks and took over the TV room watching (and singing along to) Les Miserables. We were not the most popular in the hostel that night but we were happy :)
