So again this is a recap from where i last left the blog. The backtrack begins, so we got to penang on the 22/10 after a coach trip on a bus that had what gem described as puke interior. Penang driving in doesn't give the best first impression its a pretty dirty place but there was much to see and my view of the city changed towards the end. So we stayed in the Regae hostel and me and tash headed out to get money, a storm was brewing so we were up agaisnt the clock, lol. We found the bank all was good the atm worked result, but we got slightly lost on our way back, headed down a pretty dodge looking alley which gems lonely planet book said to avoid in Penang, Tash knowing my fear of rats pointed out the long line of rats making their way through the open drain to our left and then whilst waiting to cross we saw a lady chucking up in every corner of the street possible. Hoping that we didn't find where she ate dinner we headed back to the hostel and decided it was better to eat there! The next morning we got up planing on heading to the national park and monkey beach to find that loads of people from the hostel were going there too. So we headed out with them. Irishman chris was trying to make a make shift splint for his broken toe, rohan and frank from oz, Sophie who was born in kent but lived in oz, a german guy tom and judith from the neatherlands. We took the jungle walk and found the monkey beach named after the crazy monkeys that wanted to steal all your stuff while you were swimming!! We went straight into the sea, water was amazing then found some hamocks, my first beach on my travels was pretty nice, but langkawi beach will top it in a fews days!! We went out for a curry with all the guys that night, we had (as recomended by Frank) the garlic and cheese narn set, was so good best indian i ever had!
The next day we headed to the kek lok si temple and then penang hill we had english scones at david browns which were better then any i had had in the uk and english tea no clotted cream though quite disaponting!! I enjoyed penang but manly because of the people we met and the history not my highlight so far, though that is to come in the next blog entry, to tired to write anymore now!!
Night night!
