So its been a while since my last blog entry and we have been constantly on the move, so much to fill you in on. Internet time is hard to come by when you are trying to book the next part of your journey on it.
Melaka
So we headed to Melaka from Singapore it was an interesting little town we arrived at our hostel which was not that nice but we kept thinking it could be worse, it was the smell of piss in the toliets that put us of!! As soon as we arrived Howard the guy that ran the hostel invited us out with the rest of the guests to go to the local market for food, he was realy nice and tried to get us to try all the food. We had a vegaterian spring roll was pretty good and fresh, then we went for a couple of drinks with two guys who were staying at the hostel, one was canadian and the other a Brit from Oxford, they were pretty entertaining, they started travelling together as they wanted to go to the same place. That night i woke up cold as the aircon was on pretty high and went to get in my bag for the jumper to find the combination on the padlock would work somehow i had managed to change the combination and lock myself out of my suitcase, so 6 days in and i have my first disaster. luckily in the morning the guys got two pairs of pliers and broke through the lock, gem had a spare padlock, first drama over. The next day we wondered around checking out the historical buildings. That night howard made a bbq which we all helped to prepare and stayed up till late on the roof terrace. Although the hostel wasn't that great Howard made it into a comunity we got chance to talk to all the other travellers and hear their stories.
KL
We left Melaka to head to KL it took two hours, then got a taxi to our hostel, Tash only wrote half the address down which the taxi driver reminded us half a dozen times, we missed out HS lee on the address, in fairness to him we latter realised that what we had put, 'Julan Tun' is basically equivalent to saying street or road in english so you can understand his point lol, woops won't make that mistake again. Quite funny though. So our hostel was amazing basically a hotel, it was new had only been open three months. We headed to the twin towers which were pretty unreal to see and headed back to get dinner, a roast i know really bad!! The next day we went to the Central Market and ate a Laksa which is a must in Malaysia aparently we were recomended a place to eat it in the central market by the guy at the hostel, it was so good, a bit like red thai curry with prawns and noddles. We then did the aquiriam which was good and saw some massive turtles. That night we went to the rooftop and everyone from out last hostel was up there including craig and Aaron the two guys we had a drink with in Melaka. The view of the towers was pretty impressive but it wasn't as good as the next night. We decided to do the tour of all the landmarks in KLwe went to the mosque and had to wear the full on outfit quite funny especially as they are all one size and gem was completey swamped in it haha. We then went to the batu caves which was incredible, Tash was quite scared of the monkeys on the way up as we were toldd they are agressive do not touch or feed them!! Haha.
So finally we are up to date today....
Cameron Highlands
We got a 5hr bus journey to the cameron highlands where we are staying in Fathers hostel which is pretty cool. The journey up the mountain was amazing although i did feel a bit sick, if you saw the interior of our bus on gems facebook you'll know that that did not help. We meet a couple from Nottingham at the hostel and they told us their tales from Thialand! Today we headed out on what turned out to be a 6hour treck with one 30 min stop. So far Malaysian people are so nice they just want to help you, so not like london if you are a tourist with a map in Malaysia they see 'person who is lost, who needs help' which we discovered today, handy when you're a bit shy to ask where to go, so if we're lost now we just crack open the map and wait!! Brilliant! In London people would likley pass you by! Haha
We started on what seemed like a safe trail an actual concrete path but soon it became what can only be described as a death trap. I sliped on the concrete, good start so things weren't looking that good! Gem then sliped but managed to hold on which is lucky as there was a shere drop below her. I nearly fell about 4 times quite good for me. I thought my brother would not trust me on this path, lucky he isn't here! We then walked 5km uphill to the tea factory/ shop just in time before the heavens opened. We decided to take a different, shorter route back which i'm not guna lie i was quite happy about, untill we made it to the start of the route. It was shorter because it was an incline all the way to the top. It was the most physically challenging (not to mention dangerous) thing i've ever done, i was red in the face and struggling to breath. But all this said it was the most unbelivable view, we were pretty much in the clouds, we are really high above sea level here, all i could think was Pat and Brian would love this!! But no Brian i didn't have to dig a hole.
So the girls are discussing doing the same again tommorow, i must be mad!! Haha
Bye for now!!
