The Gibb River Road
After stopping over in Kununurra for one (1) night we commenced our trek on the Gibb River Road heading west. The road encompassed spectacular country including the Cockburn Ranges and Leopoldo Ranges to name two (2) of many along the 660 kilometre former cattle route.
The first night we spent secluded on the Gibb River. The men went swimming and had a refreshing break from the dust of the road.
The next day on the road before Mount Barnett we came across the local school bus in need of help to change a tyre. Of course along came a Lleyland Brother aka as Pops to the rescue. How many men does it take to change a tyre? As many men pull up before Pops. Permission was asked before taking photographs of the school bus.
The second night we stayed at Windjana Gorge and visited Tunnel Creek, both of which are culturally significant. We were treated to seeing freshwater crocodiles at Windjana Gorge on the beaches of the Lennard River and within the caves at Tunnel Creek.
Beau made a friend while camping at Windjana Gorge and they were two mischievously cheeky monkeys wearing each other out.
