Our last week in the motorhome had us travelling along the coast through Normandy, Brittany and finally back to our hosts home for a traditional Normandy dinner. After leaving the beaches of Normandy we headed towards Mont St Michel(attached picture). This becomes an island when the tide is in. It is a midieval town with a huge abbey above. The size is almost overwhelming. You are shuttled out to the abbey and from there it is a short walk and climb to the abbey. You walk along the outside perimeter of the town as the inside streets are very commercialized. The abbey itself is very plain as are most but the structure is amazing. From Mont St. Michel we headed to the St Malo which has a walled old town. It is not easy finding a place to park the motorhome when you go into a larger town but we got lucky parking where the tour buses park. Off season so not as many. The old town is surrounded by a wall, with views of the ocean and beaches. We walked all the way around then found a place for lunch. After St Malo we spent 2 days travelling the coast and enjoying the scenery. More relaxing. On our last night, after returning the motorhome we had a wonderful traditional dinner with our great hosts. Dinner was black wheat gallettes(crepes). The gallette is made and then you add your toppings(bacon, ham, many different cheeses, egg, and more. Alice and I both had attempts at making the gallette, with average success. For desert we had crepes again with the filling of your choice(caramel, ice cream, whipping cream, jam, nuttella and more). The whole evening was a great ending to a wonderful trip in their motorhome. We are now off to Paris to walk and fight the crowds. It will be fun.
