This is running day1.
I'm up at 6.30, breakfast 7.30. Need to give it time to go down. I have left the car at the B&B. Left the bag for pickup. Just me and the rucksack now.
A really beautiful run today. The first part follows the Caledonian canal for the most part. This means wide steady path ( no need for trail shoes could have had ordinary trainers on). The path was very quiet and I met very few people.
I stopped for lunch just after Gairlochy (11 miles ).
The weather was perfect for running. Light rain with bursts of sunshine. Beautiful!
After leaving the canal the path follows loch Lochy right up to Lagan locks.
The path is through forest and for much of the time the view of the loch is obscured by trees. This is a lovely quiet, peaceful path and again only saw about 2 others during this part.
After about 14/15 miles I really slowed down ( not that I was going fast to start with!)
At 20 miles I decided to walk for a couple of miles to stretch out and save some energy for tomorrow.
I was really disappointed to find the eagle inn was closed as I had been dreaming about a nice warm coffee. Had to go an extra mile and a half to the water centre at loch oich to get one. Called the B&B from there and they came and picked me up.
