Back on the subject of pain I forgot to mention the worst one. IT band on both sides. Ouch!!!!
Seems OK in the mornings but by the end of the day they are complaining loudly. ( we're not used to this mileage back to back !!!)
Lovely breakfast this morning. Feeling nervous about this last day. I'm tired and need to rest but I'm also sad to be finishing.
It's quite a long one today with a big hill to start but should be ok for running along the top.
The day starts with about a mile of walking on the roadside. This is horrible. There is a pavement but it's overgrown and the traffic is fast and quite busy at this time of year. After days of enjoying quiet Beauty on the trails this is a real assault to the senses.
Eventually there is a turn off onto trails. The ascent today was not as steep on previous days. It did, however, feel like it was never going to end! Again I ended up having to just jog /walk. Eventually it does even out and there was an opportunity for some lovely running. I passed through forests, fields of heather, open views of lochs and mountains. . . It was just breathtaking.
20 miles is a long way and when I eventually reached Inverness I enjoyed walking through town to finish the day at the castle.
Can't believe it's over. I need to get on with planning the next one.
