Roy's Macmillan Challenges
Day 11 Tain - Thurso
Today's terrain was not easy and just as well that it was our last full day of cycling.
We left Tain crossing the Dornoch Forth Bridge and riding alongside the coast for a few miles on undulating roads.
Approaching the small town of Helmsdale we left the coast and headed north.
As soon as we turned inland the road went up and we climbed for over 30 miles through the moors.
Very exposed, the landscape is bleaker than in the highlands.
Cycling roughly parallel to the coast the route was very tough with strong winds and rain - on fact this was the toughest day by far, the conditions being so hard!
89 tough, tough miles.
Thurso to John O' Groats tomorrow and our last 30 miles.
