hi everyone, sorry to keep you waiting for our next installment.
We hope you all had a very merry christmas, ours was surreal but we had an amazing time.
As it was building up to Christmas it kept getting hotter and hotter with a few rainy days inbetween, didnt feel like xmas at all. To make it feel more christmassy we went shopping for a tree, ofcoarse Rox wanted a big spectacular one but because im a tight arse we had to make do with a ten dollar one. One of our auzzie friends,Penny, donated some decorations and lights,it made the place look a bit more festive but stil it wasnt xmas as we know it.
As we were planning our christmas dinner we realised we didnt have a table to eat it on,so me and Dean built one. There was a big sheet of flooring board in the living room, covering a hole in the floor because the roofs been leaking for about 5 years but thats another story. With a few legths of 4x2, some screws and a bedsheet for a tablecloth we had a dinning table fit for a king. The next problem was that it was so bloody hot in the garden we needed some shade, so we tied up a couple more bedsheets and lashed them to the fence and roof to make a cannopy. The weather man said it would rain on xmas but he couldnt be more wrong as there wasnt a cloud in the sky and it was over 30 degrees. Xmas morning we opened our stocking in the shape of a large envelope (thanks mum&dad). Breakfast was eggs and bacon, bucks fizz and beer,Rox was busy making her mince pies and yorkshire puddings without a packet mix! and the turkey was in the oven with roasted pumpkin, sweet potatoe, parsnips. As we waited for dinner we opened presents,Timber (the dog) got the most,Various balls and bones.Rox got us a surfing lesson on Manly beach! For starter we had cheese board, then we had prawns followed by the main course...it was beautiful.
After dinner, me and Dean has a water balloon fight and then me and Rox got on a train and went to Bondi beach. We spent a couple of hours there, it was very wierd for us being in the sun whilst we was thinking of everyone at home freezing. There was alot of drunken English people in santa hats and there was even a Christmas tree on the beach. We then headed back to the house and joined in with everyone else doing vodka shots. We both has a sore heads in the morning.
On the 28th, we went on a roadtrip to the Blue mountains, which where neither mountains or blue but it was pretty cool. The next day we had our surf lesson. Half an hour before the lesson, we walked along the beach when we heard a voice on the tannoy from a life guard saying there where sightings of blue bottles in the water, we thought they were talking about dolphins but then he went onto say, if you get stung, pull out the stinger and the pain will last half an hour, he was talking about jelly fish....GREAT, we're about to jump in that sea to surf! We got our wet suits on listened to our Ausie surf dude show us how to surf on the sand...that was the easy bit! We then headed out into the water and attempted to catch some waves. Its alot harder than it looks. We both managed stand up a couple of waves and wiped out on a few more. Rox got whacked in the nose by her own surf board. After 2 hours, we both where exhausted, we then had to carry the 8ft boards halfway up the beach, Rox moaned alot. It was good fun.
Its New years eve tomorrow and we are planning on getting a good spot early to watch the fireworks, really looking forward to seeing that. We've also got tickets for 17hours of Drum and Bass on the 1st.
Happy New year to you all, speak to you in 2011
Love
Jay & Rox
