Hey everyone,
So its been a while since we've updated the blog. We arrived in Sydney very early morning on the 3rd of November. We were both suffering from jet lag but couldnt check in our hostel until another 5 hours so we went to take our first look at the opera house and the bridge. Australia has lots of similarities to England so it definately makes me miss home more. The first thing we noticed about Australia was the cost of everything and its not just because we spent 2 months in Asia! The cost of living is more than sunny England. A loaf of bread is $5, 6 bottles of beer is $20 however 5litres of wine is only $15....get in!
The first few days we went to check out the Aquarium and saw our first glimpes of some Ausie sharks, i hope thats the only place we do get to see them is in a tank...eek! We also went to the wildlife Zoo, we got to see our first sightings of Roo's and Koala's. The roo's are alot bigger than i thought and also they are just wierd looking. We keep seeing the roo meat for sale in the supermarkets but we've not yet had a taste.
We've also taken a stroll over the bridge, very cool but i didnt have the guts to do the climb however Jay wanted to.
We then took a 12hr bus ride down to Melbourne, it was really nice. Has a nice relaxed atmosphere. We was hoping to find work but all the jobs we could find for Jay was in Sydney so we jumped back on the bus a week later and headed for Sydney again.
We are currently renting a room in Surry Hills, great location whilst we work. We've settled in well but it dont feel like much of a holiday anymore as things are pretty normal.(apart from dean the guy from bolton who lives in the garden in a tent). The plan is to spend Christmas and New Year in Syndey and sometime in the new year, purchase a funky camper van and head up to the east coast. Jay has now got a full time job as a roofer, he's getting an ace tan!!
As you will all know, Christmas is approaching and we're struggling to get our heads around it because its so hot and summer is just begining here, we cant imagine everyone at home being humbugs and enjoying the snow!! We have spotted our first Father Christmas which was very bizare as it was 27 degrees.
We've changed our flight dates and purchased our flights to Canada to visit Ali & Trevor so our travel plan is now up to date aswell.
love you all like a fat kid loves cake
Rox & Jay
