We drove from Portugal back in to Spain down the motorway (as it is the only way out), and made quick time to the campsite losing an hour because of the timezone change. The breaking news this morning was that my father had died in the early hours. A busy day was put on hold and instead we had a quiet morning. A walk around Beja in the morning was a interest break from driving, the old town and castle is an interesting visit, not yet a tourist trap and the case is just up from being a ruin. The run down to Olhao from Beja was down the IP2 and then the N2. The N2 is a glorious bit of road though the mountain areas of the algave. Following a drive from Spain into Portugal, we stopped at the Manipucial Camp centre close to the old city centre. Basic facilities, but very cheap. To fill the afternoon the children made jet packs with old waterbottles
