OKay, as i thought it has been a long time since i have updated this, so i will do my best at trying to recap the last month.....
June 14 - Paris
We arrived from our overnight flight not feeling too bad. We had some drama at the airport that had Nat and I even wondering if we should stay on the plane. First our seats weren`t together, and they told us that we were lucky to even have seats (even though they had been booked for 6 months). When we boarded my ticket scanned through as `already boarded` but they said not to worry about it. When i got to my seat a lady was already there so i politely said, get out of my seat lady, to which she replied that it was her seat and showed me her boarding pass, with the same seat number as me. I went and told a stewardess and she said that she would see to it...as i stood there the other stewardess asked me if everything was okay and i told her what was going on, to which she replied, oh well just go with the flow...not the right thing to say to me i guess but didnt want to get banned from the flight for saying something rude to her...then another lady came up and kicked the lady out of my seat and i didnt feel the one bit of compassion for some reason....
Anyways, Paris.
We checked in to our room at Hotel La Louisianne. Great location in the 6th district (St Germaine) Room was basic but nice and all we really needed. We decided that we better head out and do some sight seeing before we got too tired. So we took a wlk towards the Louvre and had some lunch...rookie mistake....lunch was less than average and we had 9EU beers....conitnued our walk up Champs Eylesse )my spelling will suck always so deal with it) and towards the arc de triumph. From there we went around to the Eiffel Tower )yes all the major tourist traps in one afternoon)
That night we went to a little restaurant around the corner from the hotel and had a great meal, followed by a drink at a little bar on the same street.
June 15 - Paris
Today we decided to go to the Louvre as it was raining. The lineup was ridiculously long but after about 10 minutes they split the line right in front of us and took us to the rear entrance that had no line which was great....we spent 5 hours walking around and really could have spent way more, pretty incredible musuem.
that night we went up to Montremare and had some dinner before we went to Moulin Rouge. We ate at this place called Marmite and had a nice meal and met some guys fom Italy who gave us recommendations for Rome as well as his number if we ran into any issues....from there we were a little drunk and went to Moulin Rouge for the 11pm show. It was good, tacky as all hell, but really good and a fun time, especially with another bottle of bubbles.
For some reason we also needed more booze after so went for a couple 7eu beers before calling it a night.
June 16 - Paris
A little foggy this morning....We went to Notre Dame and walked around Le Maraus (old Jewish quarter). Had a little nap in the afternoon and then went for dinner to the same place as the first night as it was easy, and really good....then we went back to the eiffel tower for sunset, we ended up climbing it by stairs as the line for the lift was huge.
June 17 - Paris to Nice
Met one of Nats sister-in-laws friend Lara for lunch and had a great visit (we are going to see her again in Santorini as well) and she gave us some tips that would have helped a couple of days earlier, but nonetheless would come in handy over the next couple f weeks. That afternoon we got on our train to go to Nice. We arrived in Nice and met Ella and Ollie for dinner, well that was after Ollie ran all the way back from their dinner to let us in to our apartment. The apartment was huge and really nice, and i think we knew then that this would be our nicest place on the whole trip.
June 18 - Nice
Weather was finally warm for us and we could say goodbye to our sweaters. We went down to the beach (well rockface) and layed int he sun and went for a swim. That night we cooked dinner in and got a bunch of booze, we actually that we had enough for not only htat night, but possibly the next...boy were we wrong....after 6 bottles of wine and 4 litres of beer we played operation..which, when drunk....not so easy.
June 19 - NIce
A little hungover once again. We went ofr a wlak through oldtown and up the hill to the chateau ruins and waterfall...once again we went for a swim and much needed watermelon slices on the beach. Grabbed some dinner at a french restaurant that was really good...first truely french cuisine that we had had so far....went back to our apartment and drank a few more bottles of wine and played 1`s and 5` and cluedo...once again a lot harder when drunk.
June 20 - Monaco
We went to Monte Carlo by bus today. Once there we walked around the harbour and the outside of the casino for a couple of hours. We then stumbled upon a little restaurant that overlooked the harbour and the food was great and very resonably priced for whre we were...after dinner we went to the casino and lost a little money, but not too much, Ollie actually won...i may have lost cause i was sitting at the french roulette and not the english one, well thats my excuse anyways....the casino was very quiet inside and nothing like Vegas....we then took the train home later around 11 (last train or an 80 EUR cab)
June 21 - Nice
Much the same again. Beach, booze, and baguettes.
June 22 - Cannes
today we took the train to Cannes to meet up with Suz and Andy who were there for the Cannes Lioins (advertising awards) We grabbed some lunch and then headed back to the apartment they had booked for some drinks before they left for the awards that night and we headed back to our place in Nice. Cooked dinner in again and drank a few more bevies.
June 23 - Nice
Beach for one last time and then the girls went to shop while Ollie and i went to the Casino in Nice....besides the blue haired ladies we were the only ones in there in the afternoon....that night had dinner at the Frog, we were the first people there so a little apprehensive but the dinner was great...we had frogs legs and escargot whioch were both really good, well the legs were really oily...
