G'day all and sundry (including X. Tras),
Hope you all had a great christmas and new year break. I had a great one although my wish for a white christmas didn't eventuate and it still hasn't snowed. Lisa spoiled me with a good few presents. While I did very little for new years I did however go to an NHL game the other night in Detroit. Lisa's uncle managed to get us tickets to pobably the biggest gamee of the season and a sell out. It was my first game live and also my first time into the USA. The game was unreal, the atmosphere was great. On the way to the game I had to get my passport stamped and there was an old hockey great in there trying to get to the game because he was part of the ceremony. Anyway he has been caught taking drugs across the border and is generally known for all sorts of bad things. He was pacing up and down and drinking water out of the tap flat out, he was so nervous and running late for the ceremony made it worse.
The Detroit Red Wings were retiring club legend Steve Yzermans #19 jersey so there was a massive ceremony for that which included the 5 other members to have their numbers retired, a heap of hockey greats and coaches and also the Stanley Cup, holy grail of the NHL. And the bloke at the border crossing was the 3rd man to come out and it looked like he had just run a marathon and he couldn't sit still. There was a massive standing ovation when Yzerman came out and you couldn't help get caught up in it even though I had never heard of him. When he got up to make his speech the crowd kept applauding him for about 5 minutes and wouldn't let him start talking, it was a great moment. The game was also great with the Red Wings beating Anaheim Ducks 2-1. The mighty ducks have dropped the mighty out of their name, not sure why cause they are the best side in the league at the moment, in case you were wondering. It was great to be in the crowd when the goals were scored. Had a massive fosters too. Good times. Also get on the Buffalo Sabres, second in the league, Rock on the bandwagon. Anyway check out the photos.
Caught up with Gibbo and Bill and lost some cash playing poker all night during the week. Also planning a trip out west to Vancouver and Banff, which should be good. Great result in the cricket, don't worry, I rang alfie, pigeon, marto and the warne dog and wished them all the best. Marto seems interested in having a run at Launie, he would have to start in the 2nds tho cause he is a bit out of form. Look forward to hearing from a few of you who are giving me not much...
Play straight!!
Rock
