I had a fantastic time on zanzibar: first the rastafari locals in stone town, then the way to kendwa beach, then the christmas party, dancing on all sorts of weird mixes, the DJ's wasn't to inspired that night!:)
The christmas day was the best: even though i was far away from home, missed my friends, family and Cata a lot, but in the end-thinking it back- i had a totally different xmas day... Which is normal, because it was my first one away from home. We woke up late, met Brendan and went for a spice tea in a local restaurant, but the food was finished. So we left "mama" and went to a bar were they have wi-fi, to eat...but no generator no wi-fi, although i had the best curry i have ever ate! The magic spice that made it so exclusive was Cardamon. After this long late brunch, really comfortable, we crown our day with a shisha at kendwa rocks, on the mattress... It lasted hours and we were watching the people on the beach. It was a rainy day, forgot to mention: barefoot walk in the morning, on muddy village ways, thru the strong warm rain!:)
It was soooooo relaxing and that made the day so special. To be chill and comfortable, miles away from home.
Unfortunately no diving because of the weather. And then in the evening another "pati-pati"( the way the zanzis call " party" :)) this time with better music! I met Rachel, a really nice french girl, too bad she is not on the trucks anymore.
And now, after a walk on my own thru the village, till i got to the daladala station, a 1hour ride to the port of stone town for 1500Tsh ( Brendan told me bargain the price, so i did!) got on the ferry. I an really happy to encounter Mr. Air condition for the first time on this trip!:) on the way to Dar Es Salaam now, tomorrow changing country code to Malawi!
Now i had time to think back at the nice people i have met so far:
First of all was NICK. Met him in " for private members only"Karen Camp, Nairobi. I had nobody to go to the Elephant orphanage with, so was lonely and dissapointed, because i could pay a taxi alone. Just half an hour before the time to leave, this guy from the U.S. shows up asking for company! It was so perfect! He was my ray of light, but i was his tour guide!:))
We were sharing the day, enjoying every bit, then sit for some beers and then he left to the airport. His bottle of water, didn't and is still with me! Nick said he wants to see pictures of it from everywhere i go!:)
The Story of "MODI"
His name is Mohammed and he is a local from Stone Town. I met him at the fish market on my first night in stone town. We had god times in stone town, he showed me local bars and nice places, introduced me to Ali and the rastafarians! Really nice people!Modi called me " cappucino girl" all the time, because i am tanned but not black as they are, and not white like the brits.
Who is BRENDAN?
He works for Scuba Do in Kendwa, but he is from New Zealand, travelling around the world and making money being a instructor. We went on the same rubber boat out diving, but i was in another group. GOVENDER'S group. I spent christmas with Brendan, smoked shisha, relaxed a lot! And he gave me a lot of confidence. He made me be more open to the village people, cause he was like that.
With Brendan days were too short.
GOV, il italiano! Gov, who's name was really hard to remember, loved chakula ( food) and chapati (the african bread). He was so happy when we got food from another boat after the dive! :)
RACHEL is a girl who lived in France 20 years and now moved to Ireland. She is very beautiful, has big black eyes, dark curly, shiny hair and dark skin. She looks like she'd be from south america, speaking irish with a french touch! :) she was like me, and she told me " Too bad I am not on the truck anymore, we surely would have been good friends!" we liked eachother a lot, she had exactly the same opinion about the people on the truck, about the whole trip! She came to zanzibar to surprise Gaz ( this guy from my cookgroup) for xmas, cause they got together on this trip. But now Rachel had enough of the trip and is traveling alone.
Too bad that everybody i like and likes me is not on the truck... So i still have to feel sorry for leaving a place, even though i am trying to fight it and understand that it's no sense to be involved in human realations of that kind, people come and go. But still, there are so many people with who i could share good times, why did i get those ones in the truck?with them the days are endless
All in all: Loved Kendwa! :)
Dar Es Salaam:
Got off the ferry and i saw the chaos, when unloading the luggage. 8 people kept throwing bags to a crowd, as if they were throwing it directly in the ocean, fighting for their bags, people are hooked by porters who -in a very aggressive way- want to carry the luggage. Then comes the eternal annoying question :" taxi? Taxi , lady?" after finally getting away from the port hastle, i find the town not that nice.it was just another incredible hot city, dirty and overcrowded, the same as Mikadi Beach Camp, which was just a conglomerate of people, loud bad music and nothing to do. I had to cook for the firsz time, with Gaz and John: grilled red snapper, salad and pineapple. Dead tired after that and all the Kendwa parties, went to sleep and the next day will be a long drive day for 14 h, starting at 5 am till 6pm.

The truck lifestyle still doesn't motivate me to stick to it, but i got really comfortable with Africa, the local people, local transport, everything around me. Regarding my truck mates,i still didn't find one person to ride my wave! (just Rachel, but she has left the truck and travels on her own). I am very pleased with myself that i started to feel good with the locals and will hang out with them as much as possible!
Wish i would have taken this trip on my own, but i didn't really know what to expect! I met so many nice people on the way, which are like me, same passion, same music on the ipod, and they travel around so i could have stick to them, work a bit, make some money, continue traveling. I have made the same mistake again: buy a return ticket!!! I always promise myself to buy a one way ticket, to be free, but something always has to come in the way ( like visa conditions, they all asked for it! :()
Is this the moment, when something beautiful is changing in soThe adventure continued in the Ngorongoro crater and ended up in one of the best campsite i have ever seen, located right on the ridge of the crater hole! After one night in which it took me 50 minutes just to make one step in front of the tent and have a pee, because i was soooo scared of the bushpigs eating grass around my tent- we got back to Arusha where i met Alessia & family! It was a really pleasant sueprise and i had a really nice time with them! I had to sneak in the lodge and eat for free at the buffet, which was really fun!!we even spent some time with the owner of that place and he didn't even notice me! The next day i took a flight to zanzibar after i have done some nice shopping for me and you guys!:) i flew with a really small plane, some sort of private jet and i saw Kili looking over the clouds!
