Laying on the white sandy beach of Kendwa which i consider to be a really relaxed location, and thinking back of what there has been going on in the last few days:
Well, Stone Town, the main city on the island is a typical islamic location with narrow streets, like a maze, women with covered up faces and EYES, men looking at us, trying to sell us everything possible and impossible! I felt really bad to wear just a top and some shorts, because this place was more for the locals, not for the tourists. 3 nights there, was fun, had some drinks with the local rastafarians, at the local bars! Nice experience. The funniest part was that on the island there was no electricity, so everything was completly dark, the AC and fans didn't work, so we were sweating our ass off and had " candle-light beer". At 7pm every evening, the locals from Stone Town meet in the gardens by the sea and cook amazing food. Everybody, tourists and locals come here to have a talk, eat and meet eachother.
I have been diving once, because it is over my budget and it wasn't even that nice: pretty corals, many blue spotted rays and sea cucumbers, but the rest of the underwater life has landed in the tourists stomachs!:(
We took the daladala( meaning the local transportation), and for 2500 Tsh, about 2$ we got to Kendwa Beach. We had to walk from the main road daladala station to the Sunset Bungalows about 1,5 km, because me and 2 other girls refused to pay 15$ each for the taxi offered by oasis!! Luckily we met the car that delivered beer to our hotel( the rest of the group has finished all the beers from the bar the past night) and gave us a lift :) for free! So here we are at this beautiful wide beach. Diving center right next to our bar. Good music. Nice place to sleep: no windows, just mozzie net! :)... Real bungalows for 25$ a night! A bit expensive, but really nice so it is worth the money!:)
At 1 pm i will go diving and tonight weare having the christmas party when will will do the Secret Santa... I forgot my gift in the truck...too bad for the one who was supposed to get it...
We have a menu offered for 25000Tsh about 20$ and what i really enjoy in Africa is that Reggae music is everywhere, they listen to it all the time, like Europe does with Poker Face!:) the local radio plays just reggae and it's very nice: canles, sand, wooden cottages covered with coconut tree leafes, black people which you can barely see when the lights are out, and the music!
