What a 24 hours!! Last night we were treated to a tour that included a dinner, a river cruise and a Moulin Rouge show.
Le 58, which is on the first platform level of the Eiffel Tower, is a reasonably expensive restaurant. As part of the tour we had a set menu of meat terrine, chicken breast with potato and broad beans, followed by a chocolate mousse on a crunch base. A nice white wine, the anticipated basket of crusty bread, and the obligatory abrupt French waiter!! I do wonder whether they think we smell??
(It doesn't matter how many times I see this landmark, it never fails to amaze me. Last night we dined as the sun went down, then saw if again all lit up in the dark of night.)
After dinner we had a one hour river cruise which was really beautiful. It was such a lovely evening we were able to sit on the outside deck as we made our way down the Seine. There was a commentary which gave relevant points as well as some nice classical
Music. Bit of a worry when Ross is starting to name some of the music...
Then all on to a bus and off to the Moulin Rouge. Despite already having tickets it was a good 50 minute wait to get in. Ross and a guy we met Dennis, bailed out of the line and into the Irish pub than ran along the footpath. Was funny to see a whole lot of the guys from the tour group join them! Was also amusing to see the look on their partners faces!
The show lasted one and a half hours and, while entertaining, was so cramped and uncomfortable with our heads strained to see. But lots of colour and music and legs!!
Safely dropped off to our hotel and tucked into bed by 2 am.
