This part of the blog is going to be done seperately by Rosie and I, because i spent more time in Magnetic while rosie went on ahead...
I came to Cairns on the 15th. where like jimbo i got to hold a crocodile and snakes and was also able to feed the kangaroos and walabys. The Guys that worked on the croc farm were mad and insisted that to make the show fun they were trying to get eaten......as you do! so we watched while these 5m crocs snaped and just missing them by inchs! what ever floats your boat i guess!
I checked into a hostel called Gilligans which was so nice, where i spent 3 nights before jimbo joined me. In these few days i met up with the others i had been travelling with and spent a few days just catching up and relaxing. Jimbo then joined me as well as some of the other lads we came up the coast with. the next day i checked out to move to a cheaper hostel ($14 per night) as my money was rapidly running low with out a bank card!
Cairns was great fun its such a relaxed and friendly place. we did a day scuba diving where we saw a shark and chased it... didnt think about the consequences that could of occured but never mind we survived. We got to snorkle were we swam with 2 turtles less than a inch away. it was one of the best things of our trip. We also took a trip up to cape trib were we did a 2 day and one night. we did jungle tours, zoo trips, port douglas, waterfalls and our hostel was 2 min walk to the beach... what more can we ask for?
anyways after 3 days of rain on magnetic, the day i get up to leave its beautiful weather!! typical!! anyways i catch the bus and travel the 3 or so hours up to cairns.
Along the way we stop off at a croc farm!! here i get to hold a metre long baby croc! a 10ft snake of some sort, another little snake and a bearded dragon!! also we get a tour of the farm and get to this mad aussie anoy 5m crocs by hitting them with a plastic rake!! quite amusing!
once i get to cairns i check into the most upmarket hostel you will ever find!! its a 4 star hotel in its own right!! anyways its called Gilligans and its really nice!! here i meet rosie who is also staying here.
Over the next few days we have the most amazing time! on the friday we take a day trip out to the Great Barrier Reef where we do an intro dive! this is a first for me. we get to dive to about 10m and see the most amazing coral and fish ever! the rest of the day we get to snorkel as much as we like and actually see more fish!! i even get to chase a white tip reef shark to get a picture of it!! who can say they've chased a shark!! anyways we also get to swim alongside green turtles and huge fish!! one of the best days of my travels so far!!
Over the weekend we take a trip up to Cape Tribulation, amongst jungle walks, river cruises and animal sanctuaries the weekend is spent chilling out on beautiful beaches and topping up our tans!!
Next we split again,
where i went off to alice springs to do a 3 day safari to ayres rock, before meeting up again in melbourne!
I stayed up in cairns for a few more days topping up my tan by the lagoon.
I then fly to Melbourne on the 27th and Jimbo joined me on the 29th.
