We got to airlie beach after a long 11 hour journey! checked in and went for a meal with the bus and bus driver! airlie is a smallish town not much to do but its the place where you get the boats to sail to the Whitsundays.
We stayed one night and got up the next morning to get on our boat "Pride of Airlie" which was a catermeran where we spent 3 days sailing and snorkelling and 2 nights on an island resort which had its own pool and golf course! This trip was good but the weather would have made it better. we timed it so we got stuck in the storms! One of the exciting things we saw except for rays, coral and fish was a tornado!
We found this trip not as good as it could of been, the staff werent to great, but we made the most of it! Whitehaven beach was stunning!
As we got of the boat we got caught in the storms so we decided to get out the next day instead of the day after so we wouldnt get caught on the way up and so we would beat the storms..... but we ended getting caught in a tiny town called Bowen which is a dead town between Airlie and Townsville! we ended up staying the night till the roads reopened as we could get up to Townsville and across to Magnetic island.
