Alarm call at 5.30 and breakfast at 6 - another disastorous experience.
Poured orange juice to find that it was manky mango fruit, we think as it had no taste.
Coffee, wasn´t going to fall foul of the previous day´s experience, but after putting PROPER milk in, it curdled and floated - the milk was off !!!
I decided to have scrambled egg on toast, burnt the toast and no scrambled egg was on the menu, Jackie played safe and went for a cig.
When she eventually returned, had burnt toast with jam and cereal with yoghurt as the milk as still off.
7am got collected for start of Inca trek and transfer to Puno.
The coach had mixed cultures on - 85% german, who didn´t really use any manners - nowt different there then. Jackie breached the language divide and used the little german that she knew to cadge a light, as the high altitude stopped her lighter from working.
We visited Saint Pierre Apotre Eglise Church (St Peter´s) which was beautifully decorated inside, we then went to Raqchi, which is an Inca community, it was interesting although Jax says it had a wall. It then rained while we were there and the ground was made of clay so quick exit to bus.
Went for lunch at the highest point in the Andes and the meal was really nice, no guinea pig but alpacha and no milk (again no coffee - which meant banging headaches). Men dressed in traditional costume played panpipes.
Pulled into a layby, saw baby llamas and a big one and we both bought a baby alpacha woolly jumper.
Visited a museum which was the size of an average front living room and this was truely not riveting, we just wanted to get on the bus and to our hotel and hope it did coffee !!
Arrived in Puno, met by another tour guide and taken to our hotel, only after we made him stop so that we could buy some milk and pringles. WOW, the hotel Sonesta Posadas Del Inca is breathtaking and we have a room that overlooks the shores of Lake Titicaca. The selling point of this hotel is not just the lake it is also that they do white coffee yippee !!
Having a sophisicated evening meal tonight where we are actually getting dressed up and having a Lake Titicaca cocktail, but not a late night as we are being picked up at 6.50am for our trip.
Trip for tomorrow has one major flaw for Jackie, it is that we are going to a floating island by boat and Jackie doesn´t like them and it is 2 and a half hours each way. Will report whether she waves me off from the shore line. Major flaw for me it has 500 steps, am i gonna get up there without laughing - I don´t think so, either that or Jackie will be laughing at me.
