Rosemary's Ramblings
Woke up quite early as Brent was coming to meet me to go to the train station and book a ticket,so i showered and packed and waited - then waited some more - got fed up of waiting so i headed to the train station with my bag and everything as the hotel wasnt too happy about me leaving it - oh well!
at the station you have to fill in a form and detail what you want where you are going where you came from who you are and how many fillings you have (well not quite!)
but anyway i did that and headed upstairs to the tourists counter - number 52! as i stood lin line there was a tap on my shoulder i turned to see a grinning brent! fortunaly you can have multiple people on one form so he just added his name. the ticket cost about 7/8 pounds for a 22 hour train journey - now thats goo value. Departure was not till 19:00 so we headed back to the salvation army which is were he ended up staying last nmight to drop my heavy bag.
He nto feeling too good so i went for a wonder on my own to take some photos and get some exercise before the train. when i went back met anki a great guy from the punjabe, we chatted for abit then brent and i headed out for a bite to eat - i had talhin which is rice and a number of different dishes in really small quanties which is great for tryign lots of different things, it was really good! ate with my fingers too - quite sucessfully this time - think i am getting the hang of it now!
brent went back (to the toilet!) so i walked a bit more and bumped into anki - we walked together for a while and had fresh coconut milk on the street and went into the taj mahal hotel for a look round - neither of us were quite brave enough to head in on our own - its a very imposing building. htere is a guy posted at every single door to open them for you - heaven forbid you should open a door yourself - i guess thats the service you pay for!
anyway it was sudenly mid afternoon so went for some soupe at leoplds (somewhere that is talked about lots in one of my favorite books of the moment) then headed for the train station! i ripped my trousers getting in the taxi which was quite embarassing - fortunatly i had my skirt in the top of my big bag so pulled that on over - whats a girl to do?
we ended up paying someone to show us to our seats as we couldnt find them and it was a very very very long train!!! we settled in and chatted a bit met a guy called shane from ireland - seems quite cool. not much happenign so went to bed - i was in the middle bunk so had to wait for others to be ready to sleep before i put my bunk up! oh well it wasnt too late fortunaly! listend to some music - thanks gobo then went to sleep!
