Hi Everyone, I have been in Cairns now for well over a week and, as Kate loves to say, i've really enjoyed myself! The only problem is its a bit of a party town and when the money is running a bit low it makes it hard! Me, Paul and Kate have all applied to 3 agencies to get some work but only Kate has had any responses. There is plenty of work here but i suspect that all the work has been taken already so the jobs are quite hard to come by (especially being a bloke). We have decided to cut our losses and move on to Perth, where we have heard there are alot more 'man' jobs around! We fly there tomorrow (Wednesday) night! Its gonna be another sad day as we are gonna have to say goodbye to Shellie and Kate. Along with Jane i know i have made friends for life, they are top girls!!!
We had to say goodbye to Al last week too but he is already in Perth so im sure i will catch up with him there at some point. We decided that we would hire a car out on Als last full day in Cairns and go for a drive into the mountains to have a look at Barron falls and Mosman Gorge. They were really cool! We stopped at Mosman Gorge for lunch (we had already made a picnic) where we were pestered by a casswary bird the whole time, The bird finally managed to nick our last chocolate buscuit, the little #@##@*!!! Then we went up to Barron falls, the pictures again dont do it justice! Our Green cabrolet sports car (a Corsa!) then took us back to Cairns for yet another night out!!!
The next day we got up, took Al to the airport, said our goodbyes, and went to take the car back. On the way back we decided that we would keep the car for an extra day and travel up to Cape Tribulation going through Daintree rainforest on the way. Again this proved to be another good day out in our 'pea green sports machine'!!! That night we decided that we would get some food and have a quiet night in. Amazingly we did exactly that!!! But........ we did have a little bit of goon (very cheap wine) left. So Kate, Shellie, Paul and me all sat on our very very small balcony, which over looked the main road and lagoon, and drank our goon. Paul then had to nip out to the bottle shop to get another box of goon. We had one of the funniest(and cheapest) nights on that balcony playing eye spy for about 2 hours and heckling drivers trying to reverse park in the street! It was class!
As Shellie and Kate are going home soon we decided to do something different before they went so we decided to go on a hot air balloon. Unfortunatly Kate and Paul couldnt afford it so just Me and Shell went. We had to get up at 4am to go and while we were waiting for the bus to come we were sat next to loads of people enjoying there after pub kebabs! As the money is a bit short we could only really afford a 30 minute flight in the balloon! This was the only dissapointment, it was over so fast! As soon as we got through the clouds it was almost time to come down again! Having said that it was still really good and the champaign breakfast afterwards more than made up for it!!!
Anyway had better go as im starting to go boss eyed!!! Take care and remember to keep those messages coming!!!
