Hi everyone, i thought it was about time i wrote a postcard from Sydney as i have been back here for over 2 months now and the time is flying by! Well i am still living in Bondi junction with Anthony (English guy from southampton) Alessandra and Leticia ( 2 girls from brasilia, Brazil). We all get on really well so there is always a good atmosphere in the house and it is always nice to come home late from work to find drunk brazilian girls in your kitchen having a party!!!
I am still working at 'Cafe Sydney' which is in Circular Quay and has a great view overlooking the Harbour bridge. The job is going well, its not hard so there is no stress at all which is obviously a bonus! We get quite a few celebs in too so are always on the lookout for the next one. Apparently a few weeks ago one of the girls on reception wouldnt take a booking for Richard Branson cause we were fully booked! She had never heard of him before!!!
Christmas day was cirtanly different from any i have ever had before. I got up in the morning to find Anthony and Alessandra in the front room, they had got up an hour or so before me so had already opened their presents. So i went and got mine and opened them with them.Thank you to everyone who sent me a card or present, I especially liked the Lee Evens DVD (Thanks Hayley) My speakers for my iriver (Thanks mum) and obviously my 'Spice Girls' CD (Thanks Paul, you old goat!). After that Leticia and her cousin Isabell (necessaryonyourbike) got up and Anthony's brother, Phil, came round. This was when we got the champaign out and realised we didnt have any food in for lunch, (Im sorry mum but your not gonna like this bit) so we decided to get take away pizza and have that! This was my Christmas dinner, bad i know!!! Anyway after 'lunch' me, anthony and phil walked down to Bondi beach where i was meeting Pete (a mate from work) and a few of his friends. We had a couple of beers and went into the bondi pavilion where me and Pete had tickets (unfortunatly Anthony and Phil didnt so went for a swim and went home). It was a really good atmosphere in there, it was full with English and Irish people all in the same boat as me. So for the rest of the day we drank, had a laugh, got a bit sun burnt and danced around with Judge Jules on the decks! It was a really good day just didnt feel like christmas! Not that im complaining, it was nice to wear a new T-shirt rather than a new jumper on christmas day!!!
Boxing day me and Pete got invited round to a guy from works house, Toby, for a few drinks. He is an English guy who has been here for about 5 years. We had some more champaign, wine and finally some turkey! I was so pleased to have some turkey it made my day, now all i crave is yourkshire puddings (Batter buns to you H!) It was a good day, just chillin out in Toby's backgarden (i almost put 'just chillin out in Toby's back yard' but thought i would re-frase it, Toby is gay!!!).
The day after there was nobody was in the flat so decided to make myself a roast dinner as i missed out on christmas day. I had roast chicken, roast potatoes, veg but still no yorkies. I dont know how to make them and they dont sell 'Aunt Bessies' out here either so i guess thats just one thing im gonna have to wait for!!!
Unfortunatly on New Years eve i had to work. I wasnt too bothered as i knew i would have a brilliant view of the fireworks and not get crushed by thousands of other people. As it was work was quite good as they had a Latino theme to the evening with a really good band playing. At about 11.55pm we all stopped work got a glass of champaign and watched the fireworks. They were amazing. i had my camara with me but my photos didnt come out very well, i do have a very good film of them though, so will have to show you it when i get home! After the fireworks we put in another couple of hours work to close down. The management then got out yet more champaign and beer and we all sat down and got drunk on the balcony. We finished up at about 4.30am. I managed to get a bus home (which was full even at that time). I got home at about 5.15am and there was, as usuall, a party going on in the kitchen. So i joined them for a little while then it was time for bed, What a night!!!
New years day turned out to be the second hottest day in Sydney ever, It was 44 - 46 degrees and you really could feel it! As you walked along the street you could feel your feet burning and when the wind blew it burnt your eyes!!! Im not joking!!! So i went to a nice air conditioned pub with Phil and Pete and forgot all about the heat!!!
Well thats pretty much where im up to at the moment, i have just under 2 months left at work then will be traveling again. I would tell you my plans but there is no point as they could change as you well know! So happy new year to you all, i will see you soon.
P.S. Happy birthday Dad!
