Day 33 - Brussels
Today we were lazy, and it was well deserved. We have been on the go for over four weeks and fully deserved to spend this morning in bed, watching tele shopping and French Gok Wan. We even went down for breakfast and then came back up and got back into bed. It was a real Saturday morning like we have at home. We thoroughly enjoyed it and now I want a nicer dicer from JML.
When we finally decided to arise, we headed to the main square. On our way there we passed a march, which we later found out was for volunteers day. The next obstruction before the main square was a market. We love markets and this one was pretty good. The jewellery stalls were in abundance and Dee and I were overjoyed! I bought a sneaky present for someone and then we headed off. The main square was gorgeous, it all looks postcard perfect. Our favourite thing tho, was the chocolate shops. I think we went into every one we passed. We just can't help ourselves.
We walked out of the main square and stumbled upon The Waffle Factory. This is the place where dreams are made. I had a waffle with bacon, mozzarella and tomato. Heaven. I love the Belgians. We then walked down to see Mannequin Pis. It wasn't very impressive. Lots of people crowded around a small bronze child having a wee. Not my scene to be honest. We decided to find a pub. We found a lovely looking pub with exciting beer glasses, so we waltzed straight in. There was a funny smell when we walked through the door but we thought that was just normal pub smell. Whilst we were stood at the bar perusing the beers, Katie nearly died of shock. She said she had seen the leg of a massive spider and it was hidden behind the beam opposite us. Naturally, we all froze and stared at the beam. Turns out she hadn't seen a giant spiders leg at all, she had seen a mouse's tail. I have never moved so quick in my life. The four of us bolted out the door and down the street. The thought of it is still making me feel sick now.
The shock made us just want to return to the hotel. We walked past the museum of letters and were back pretty sharpish. Mouse-gate had completely taken away my appetite, so the girls went down the road to get food whilst I decided which clothes to get rid of to make room in my bag for all the chocolate. The primark vest tops and knickers are the first to go. After watching Harry Potter in French, I skyped Mother and Patrick and discovered she is not only following my blog but has been searching the site and reading other peoples blogs too. This has tickled me. We are now all in bed and watching some programme with old people doing pranks on the public, it is the strangest thing ever.
Tomorrow we are off to an Irish pub to watch the All Ireland final. Hopefully they will serve some good food to line our stomachs! We have no plans for the rest of the day and will probably need a good sleep before a very long day on Monday. Belgiums Got Talent is on now so I am refusing to write anymore.
Ps, mother, please consider the buffet idea I put forward before. I will be rather pecking when I get back on Monday night.
