Once we had passed over the Malaysian boarder we noticed a huge difference in the people straight away. Even just to be greeted with a smile was really good to see.
So we got a taxi to our hostel once the coach terminated before getting to where it was supposed to go! The taxi driver was like a tour guide! Once we arrived at our hostel there had been a mix up with our booking online and there was only 1 bed that night so the recommended the Classic Inn Hotel a little furhter down which seemed alot nicer anyway. After being shown an expensive double room we opted for an 8 bed dorm which was just as comfy. Just after settling in a Guy called Rob from Yorkshire came in who had been travelling for two years! After that 2 Swedish guys came in, Oskar and Marcus and we all decided to go for food together. Rob suggested chinatown so we agreed and followed through the streets which were just jam packed of market stalls, shops, food stalls etc. We sat at one, ate then decided to go to Reggae Bar for drinks.
Oskar was pretty funny and Marcus was just an endless book of knowledge!
Shevs got talking to an Australian guy, Steve, who joined us and we all decided for a change of scene so were advised that Bukit Bintang was the place for bars. It was really expensive when we got there so we chose an Irish bar. After a while we moved onto another bar/ club where we danced and one of us got talking to a rich French guy who had a bought a big bottle of something expensive from behind the bar and wsa pouring it out for us all! Bargain! Didn't spend anything in that club!
Next day Oskar and Marcus were sleeping in late so Shevs, Rob and I went to Batu Caves which was an amazing place with 200+ steps up to it where wild monkeys were jumping around all over! At the top were 3 temples with statues and shrines everwhere, apparently it's where thousands of people come to worship every year or something. I was more interested in the monkeys though!
Back at the hostel two new girls were in our dorm, Maria and Doris who were going to the Sky Tower (huge tall tower where you can look out over the city) so me, Shevs and the lads decided to go earlier so we could watch the city light up when it turned dark. We walked on a jungle walk over to the tower (bad idea in a dress) and was amazed by the sight of the city.
After we went for food at Wings Musik Cafe which was on the road of our hestel and ate. Then we sat on these amazingly comfy sofas and played cards and listened to live music. We said bye to Rob who was leaving that night and the 4 of us stayed in Wings all night chatting.
2am came, home, bed!
All in all, KL seemed alot better than Singapore as the locals were more welcoming, the prices were better and meeting new people was a relief as it broke it up for me and Shevs being together 24/7.
