Day Seven Verona, Italy-We arrived in Verona at dinner time!(for those of you who know me that means it is time to eat now!) There are two things that set me off; the first is a lack of coffee first thing in the morning guarantees a certain level of hell for those around. The next is a lack of food at a normal meal time. Until I get food, all hell will break loose! So back to the story! As we searched for a Rick Steve's suggested restaurant circling several times over and over, me getting angrier and angrier, I finally just said enough and stopped at a local Pizza shop. Here I ate, drank and watched the US Soccer team play soccer versus Spain (eventually the beat Spain the number one team in the world at that time). My appetite now satisfied, we continued our sightseeing adventure. We saw that the streets were lifted in many areas to preserve the archaeological integrity that lay beneath them. We saw a gorgeous roman coliseum that is still used to this day, retrofitted annually for the Italian Opera. The square around the coliseum was buzzing with activity. There was a concert by Amicha, a pop artist who covered tons of current to 40 hits from the US. Inside the coliseum they were practicing Opera for the upcoming national show. After touring the city, roman theatre ruins and numerous basilicas we sat in the square drinking the house wine and enjoying the concert. We then trained back, the very last train, to Vicenza and went to bed.
