Here we are again! After many people telling us we wouldn't like Brisbane, we were desperate to prove them wrong - and we have loved it! We have spent two days here and have kept ourselves v busy. Hopped on a river ferry on our first night not knowing exactly where to get off, but ended up in a bar next to the river - what a shame! Also managed to make the return journey without paying, not sure how we wangled that one but think it might have something to do with a sweet smile at the ticket man! Yesterday we went to a koala sanctuary which was the cutest thing ever!! We think the koalas took quite a shine to Robyn as they kept posing for her snaps, however, with hindsight she thinks they may have mistaken her for a family member and is now quite concerned that she may look like a koala! There was also a field of kangaroos who we became friends with after a couple of strokes. There was a mummy kangaroo with a joey in her pouch, and we saw it pop it's head out - as you can imagine we were quite excitable, bless us! We saw a man sized lizard on the footpath at one point and thought it had escaped from it's enclosure, after seeing about 5 more, we remebered we were in Australia and this is the norm!! Last night we were tempted in to a bar by the $5 steak but ended up being tempted by many a cheap beverage - 8-9: half price champagne, 9-10: "power hour" ($8 jugs of beer!) Met some good old english lads and teamed up for a quiz, however - not sure we were much help to them! Our nights entertainment was provided by a 70 year old drunken nana with a foul mouth! Her antics included ripping down Christmas decorations, throwing ice at cars/people out of the window, telling people to "piss of you d*** head!" only when she began hurling violent abuse at innocent passers by was she asked to leave the bar! Steph did good managing to get the granny out and even won our team some free shots for her efforts - trust me it took some effort, she was vile! The night continued with more free shots for our team after winning drinking competitions (pints being downed in 3 seconds!)....not by us we hasten to add! The night ended with Steph thinking that microwavable macaroni cheese was the way forward for breakfast, needless to say, come the morning she was somewhat jealous of Robyn's beans on toast! Today we went to a man made beach in the middle of the city and chilled out, however our most exciting news is the crazy purchase of our new best friend....some cheap hair straightners!! Now going to test them out, goodbye frizz! Next stop Hervey Bay, more from us then xxx
