Good afternoon from ko phi phi and good morning to the uk. This blog is an easy one to write just purely in connection with the pictures as the place could be associated with a paradise island.
The day (Friday) started with a trip from Phuket harbour to get a 2 hour boat trip over to ko phi phi. The boat looked one of high quality and large in size, unfortunately the one that pulled up was not ours, you had to walk across it to get onto the one behind which pretty much felt like a bus that could float. Nonetheless there was a sense a relief to see Phuket in the distance and then the most beautiful of islands, ko phi phi and it's surrounding islands vast approaching.
As we got closer I found my trigger camera finger itching to get started which is still the case as I write this. There is an instant stillness about the place which is likely to do with there being no roads meaning there is not the constant humming from motorcycles. There idea of taxis is one man pushing a large tesco like trolley which again suits my way of thinking. Sadly our accommodation was situated at the highest point in bungalows situated on the hillside called ingphu. In the book it states monkeys may walk into your accommodation at any point but disappointingly this never happened.
After dumping our bags we had a our usual snout around the island and to my pleasure the island felt like a party island with drink sold at every turn. They sell small buckets with a bottle of rum, whiskey etc.. And a can of soft drink for around 150baht=£3 so you can take down to the beach at your leisure. I stayed on the chang beer but Tina talked me into a bucket of cocktail when we met two lovely girls from the uk-Hannah and Claire. This was due to us seeking cover on their table when monsoon like rains opened from the heavens, I thought another tsunami was on the cards but not the case.
Anyway long story short the hangover hit Tina like a sledge hammer from Thor himself the following morning. She was out if action and it was time for me to man up and I had to run around the island to find a new cheaper place to stay. I did this of course with my notorious sense of direction and we have now moved to a place called Tara inn in the centre costing £14 but
No monkeys sadly.
I got to watch the football in the evening and always a pleasure to see Norwich lose, we ended the evening with a nice meal and an awful cocktail at the rooftop reggae bar overlooking ko phi phi. Tina slept in patterns having blamed the strength of the cocktails for her demise, this reminded me of the sunburn incident but I kept that to myself given her state.
Today was again enjoyable taking a long boat trip with Tina, Hannah and Claire. The guy took us around monkey island where we saw monkeys getting angry and attempting attack moves at Germans (who wouldn't pay to see that), maya bay (where the beach was filmed), long beach and some caves. We also got to jump off and have a snorkel and swim around. We have bought and underwater camera (thanks mum for the money which has gone partly on this) so hopefully the pictures we took in the water will justify this. Haven't really got many funny stories from this as it was just a very enjoyable trip with good company.
And there you find us currently sitting out another monsoon like rainstorm plotting our next move as we are discussing possible doing our padi scuba license or when we are going to move on. Our 2 new friends have now moved onto railay and then onto Vietnam which will probably be the similar route we will follow this week.
Hope everyone is well, disappointed to see my departure from the uk hasn't changed the fortunes of Ipswich as I saw another 3-2 defeat, moss I'll wait for updates and how we are playingfrom you or via the internet agent that is becki as I know she does that for you. Ed pleasure to speak to you briefly on skype, missing the random chat which Tina does not provide regularly enough.
Robbie c out for now from the paradise of ko phi phi.
