Good morning from Railay and a very early morning good morning to the UK.
Railay has been an enjoyable experience although the last day has been one of much turmoil. We arrived in railay on a boat which drops you off about 100 metres from the seashore. So it was a case of rolling the shorts up and having to walk through the sea with your backpack and concentrating solely on not falling over. We did this with success and the very small bay like village of railay awaited. It was a nice welcome for the fact there was no welcome meaning no one trying to sell you something, offer your rides or a place to stay. Unfortunately we had not booked a place to stay so we had to wade through some jungle like territory for 10minutes to the east side of the island to a hostel called diamond cave. From the outside of the place it looked like an absolute bargain but as often the case you can polish a turd as much as you want but a turd is still crap.
Tina and I would only stay in this place for 1 night but it was a traumatic night for her. As previously mentioned the mosquitos very much enjoy the taste of Tina and this was not helped for the fact the the bathroom had a large whole in the wall and considering we were in jungle territory in hot conditions, the Mosquitos must have spotted her thinking it was utopia calling. I got disturbed about an hour into my rest with screams as cobwebs were spotted in the toilet area and which played on her phobia of spiders. After that every paint mark on the wall became a foot long spider and the nights sleep was one of terror for her and lack of sleep for me. To be fair the whole hostel seemed like it was run by basil fawlty, as they small water area for fish which had a brick in it and Tina tried to use the ice cool pool bit as she edged in the pool rails shook and nearly came off.
We quickly moved onto another hostel which was a lucky turn of events as for about the same price we got breakfast, air-conditioning, swimming pool and tv. At last I could catch up on the football highlights and Tina could catch up on the celebrity world and the gossip that comes with it. We got to walk around railay which has a strange contrast of sides. On the eastside of the island (where cheap accommodation and bars were situated) the beach is like a lagoon in high tide and when in low tide it looks horrible and not for swimming. On the flipside on the westSide the beach is stunning with crystal clear sands and an amazing hanging limestone cliff backdrop. This is due to the tsunami ravaging the island, the only built up the westSide with resorts etc... And the eastside beach was overlooked, there is still a large boat onshore that had been washed up when the titanic waves hit.
I kept pictures to a minimum on this occasion but I took a few of the sights in when sunset was happening and it looked amazing. The views were situated at the corner of the island called viewpoint and it was made even more amazing the fact there was hardly anyone there and I hope the pictures can do it some kind of justice. The wall back through the jungle is always fun when you hear rustling in the trees and you look up to see monkeys in the tree.
Anyway I'm going to close this blog short as I got bored of writing it partly as I am now in Cambodia and couldn't get to a wifi zone sooner. We had a half an hour boat trip, 14hour bus trip (yes that's right 14hours and it was a killer) then a 6 hour wait at the airport for a flight to cambodia. The film planes, trains and automobiles was funny and seemed enjoyable sadly I didn't have Steve Martin or John candy to keep us company so it was long, oh so long!
Anyway we ate safe and sound in cambodia in phnom penh and although tired I managed to have a few 'anchor beers' which came to 75p a pint, cheers!
Sorry to cut it short if anyone was half interested in what we are doing but I will endeavour to improve my output in the future.
Robbie c out for now.

Dad Of course we are interested in what you are doing so keep the blogs coming. Probably better to ignore the ITFC results though
