Hello all, we've finally made it to Cape Town and civilisation. After 25 days on a truck and in a tent we've got clean and are getting used to city life again.
Our tour through Southern Africa was awesome but we are happy to be in a bed. For those who know it we're staying in the good old Ashanti Lodge, although I have to say folks it has now been superseeded by the 'Backpack' a 5 Star Backpackers down the road, but it is a bit more pricey than here.
Since our last update we finished up in Namibia taking a tour through the Namib Desert. This was amazing, kilometer after kilometer of sand dunes that are the size of mountains! We climbed Dune 45 which was over 120m high to watch the sun rise which was pretty spectacular, not to mention the fact that none other than HRH Prince Harry was also climbing it with us - we wish these bloody royals would stop following us around! We then went on a desert walk learning all about the createrus animals and dunes from one of the local bushmen. Namibia is beautiful and one of our favourite countries so far - certainly worth a visit.
From there we travelled on to Cape Town taking in a wine tour en route - Rob was pleased as I won the femal arm wrestling trophy for our tour truck vs. the Gecko's, my the things he is proud of ;)
We arrived in Cape Town yesterday and did township tour on the outskirts of the city. It really is quite eye opening. For such a rich country it is scary how many people do actually live in extreme poverty and it left us a little shocked.
Today we got up to thunder storms and torrential rain so it was difficult to do anything. Table Mountain was in dark clouds and couldn't be seen so that was out of the question. Instead we headed down to the waterfront and did a spot of shopping, booked our tour of Robben Island for tomorrow and as it was raining and we had a few hours to spare, at Robs request we decided to go and see Sex And The City at the cienam - four quid for both us to get in, what a bargain!
Thanks to everyone for your lovely messages, we're slowly but surely trying to email all of you individually so please don't be offended if you don't hear from us for a wee while.
We'll update our blog soon, just trying to sort our car hire out before heading along the coast to J'Burg.
Love to everyone
