Que Honda!!
And so our time in Xela has come to an end. We have spent the last 3 weeks with our new 2nd best family (hi mums). We are now the proud godparents of music for the middle son Jimmy, and taking our parental duties seriously, we took him to his first live football match. The level of football was pretty dia , but the fireworks confetti, and big band versions of rocky kept us amused. We also took part in the family tradition of wearing rain macs during dinner time and chased floating eggs as the roof proved no match for the spring rain.
Rob has now graduated with a full diploma in spanish, he is now able to order drinks, ask what the time is, and completely confuse himself and others with past and future tenses. Meanwhile lou has handed over 5 years experience of making films with kids, in just 2 weeks! and there are rumours of a LouLou foundation starting this summer, with gold statue in the square to follow.
We have also managed to see our first erupting volcanoe, after a strenuouse 2 hour hike through jungle and goat herd we managed to see 4 eruptions in one morning, whilst enjoying fresh hot chocolate in the morning sun...winner
But it hasnt all been Hard work, a month in Xela has just about given us enough time to locate and experience every, cafe, bar, club, music festival, and restaurant, the city has to offer. And after many "Litro de Cabro", synchronised sala line dancing (has to be seen), the almighty "Bacteria Sound system, and wonky cobbled walks home it is probably time for a well earned rest. This we found is best done in the natural hot springs of Fuentes Georginas, found high in the mountains amongst nothing but farmland and jungle.
As we bid a tearful farewell to Xela, we are now heading for the Hippie retreat of Lake Atitlan to find our innerselves, and learn to juggle.
Hope all is well back home
lots of love
Rob an Lou
