So, after months of planning and increasing excitement, the day has finally arrived when we would set off on our adventure! With cars packed full to bursting, we set off for the white cliffs of Dover, to catch our ferry.
Each car had a walkie talkie and we gave ourselves fitting call signs, "Wine Tasters" (Mum, Linda and Brian) and "Scuzzi, Scuzzi" (Me, Rob, Holly and Rose) and so the journey was mainly kept entertaining with various games of eye spy and guess the person with the personalised number plate!!
We made fantastic time and managed to take the 5.20pm ferry, bound for Calais (despite nearly causing a security breach when our walkie talkies started picking up the Port Security Channel! Mum panicked and threw the handset to Linda in a very naughty school girl manner) Maybe allowing 7 and a half hours to make the trip south was a little excessive, but we were all far too excited to hang around!
After a swift round of drinks aboard our very snazzy boat, we soon arrived in a very balmy Calais and headed straight to the hotel for dinner.
Tomorrow the adventure starts all over again, as The Road Trip really gets underway!
