OUr monring tour of Durham and Duke with Teri included Duke itself (the chapel, too), the Gardens (we saw wood ducks, black necked swans, great blue heron!), downtown Durham (new brew houses, art galleries, a residentail area with many craftsman style homes that have been renovated, new performing arts center, re-purposed old tobacco industry buildings, etc. After retruning back to the apartment and after Teri returned with Selena from pre-nursery school, we had a few minutes with Jordan to say goodbye (see above photo)... and off to Wilmington, NC after a atop at Starbucks to "refuel". Driving on I-40 East we continued to listen to our CD book "Locked On" by Tom Clancy - 15 CDs of an espionage thriller about a presidentail election, Pakistani terrorists, etc... listening to this makes the long drive feel shorter. We started listening when we left Philly. We are at disc 7...
We stopped to refuel the car, get some snacks and soda... seems diet sodas are not the norm in NC, hard to find at the "Magnolia" rest stop. The attendant told me they had only diet coke....? We setteld on a small bag of peanuts to share and a bottle of diet ice tea.
We arrived at McCormicks home around 345pm. Weather a bit warmer but just as cloudy. Great to see Michalea, Scott, Sadie and Soen who have obviously grown a bit since last summer. A delicious dinner of steak and grilled mixed veggies w/ bacon made by Scott. After dinner we played "Rumble in the Dungeon" card game (look it up, its fun!) and a few hands of Oh Turkey (often known as Oh S---! Soen joined us while Sadie played sudoku on her I PAd.... tomorrow lunch with Dave and ellen Reynolds Allen!!!
